Did they actually repaint their armour or did it just get so covered in blood it turned red? The latter would be more in character but I feel is far less likely. Now imagine a World Eater angrily yet delicately painting the legion badge onto his armour.

Personally, I think their armor slowly turned red by itself due to Chaos warp corruption BS. Just like their helmets grew those demonic bunny ears, I doubt they made those on purpose either.

Dried blood is more of a brown with hints of red into it so I assume the serfs would be doing the painting while techmarines and artificers would be modifying the armour itself.

I am glad to see that Ghazghkull's rules at least somewhat live up to the title he has inherited, even if the lore is a disgrace in that regard.

Just reading up on the lore, apparently Ghazghkull's skull was rebuilt with adamantium after his head was in the way of a bolter round fired by a Space Marine. That's the same metal famous X-man Wolverine has been reinforced with, which means that WH40K is part of the Marvel universe.

My Valhallans arrived today! Just need some super glue for them and the construction will be all set. Almost finished a squad of chaos marines too that i got last year, finally have time to get back to them being in isolation.

Adamantium has been a thing in Warhammer 40,000 for a long time. It is used in Power Armour.

And there it pretty much comes from D&D. IIRC D&D originally used the historical literary term adamantine but in its spacey spin offs it became adamantium. Basically the term has been used by so many scifi authors and series since marvel first officially coined it in 1969 that it's pretty much become a generic term. In 40k it's one of the trio of uber materials used in power armour along with armour Plas (knicked from 2000 AD irrc) and ceramite.

So, spiralling into madness in my isolation, these are the army ideas I have had so far:

1. Chaos Space Marines - Dungeon Keepers, a Khornate Iron Warriors Daemon Engine army heavy on Forgefiends, Heldrakes and Terminators with a draconic theme and orange scale colour scheme (painting a zigzag or 'U' shaped pattern horizontally in a dark red over the midtone orange, then 'highlighting' the edge of the scales)
2. Chaos Space Marines - Ascended Blades, a Slaaneshi Iron Warriors Obliterator/Mutilator army (when they get a proper kit) with the idea of seeking perfection as a weapon by becoming one with them. They would have a metallic bright orange colour scheme.
3. Chaos Space Marines - Rustswarm, a Nurglite Iron Warriors or Night Lords jump infantry army, Raptors and Warp Talons along with Greater Bloat Drones with a rust orange colour scheme.
4. Tyranids - Hive Fleet Charybdis, an aquatic/serpentine list of Raveners, Trygons and Zoanthropes in a turquoise and silver colour scheme on icy bases.
5. Tyranids - Hive Fleet Cockatrice, a flying list of Gargoyles, Hive Tyrants, Shrikes, Harpies and Hive Crones, with a vibrant speckled colour scheme.
6. Tyranids - Hive Fleet Basan, an artillery army of Exocrines, Tyrannofexes and Biovores, with a blue-green-red colour scheme.
7. Space Marines - Mammothus Astra/Space Mammoths, a Terminator-heavy army using Chaos Terminator tusked helmets and furs from various kits in a brown and white colour scheme (I would like do do a quartered scheme, but it might look better as brown head, torso and legs with white arms representing the tusks).
8. Genestealer Cults - Miners' Union, a mechanised civilian army heavy on Rockgrinders, cutting tools and Aberrants. Colour scheme would be brown/grey overalls and pale grubby skin.
9. Sisters of Battle - Golden Word, an artillery/gunline army of Exorcists and Retributors with a red and gold colour scheme.
10. Dark Eldar - Swift Mercy Cabal, an Incubus army in Raiders and Venoms with a bone and black colour scheme.

I will likely come up with a lot more before I get the chance to start any of them, and these are already far more than I am ever going to be able to afford.

The only thing i dont like are the helmets on the infantry, i think they are a tad awkward. I think they would look a lot better if the horns were down on the main body of the helmet instead.

Dark Angels. Its Lion El Johnson, their primarch. He finally got a Horus Heresy mini

The Dark Angels colour scheme in 30k is Black and Red as opposed to the Dark Green in 40k

If you mean the marines he is killing those are the night lords.

The new Warcry warband is insanely cool.

I intensely dislike the hammers. Not only are they an offensively un-elvish weapon, they also kinda look like croquet clubs.

I concur with both. They look like they would break their necks just by tilting their heads slightly, and while you can have thematically elvish hammers that look amazing, those do not.

Probably the first new army I've seen which I've intensely disliked everything about them. The whole cows theme looks silly, the horns remind me too much of chaos minis, and warhammers don't look elven at all and putting a cow's head on your mainline infantryman's helmet is beyond dumb.

.
.
.
Fabius on the other hand is looking very fine.

EDIT: In fact, looking at that infantry again, I can't even take their stances seriously. The guy left plus 1 looks like he's at the fayre doing that bell thing, the the guy on the far right looks equipped to build someone a dollhouse and the guy in the middle looks like he's about to go extremely hardcore on whack-a-mole.

Dislike all around.
