My box of Idoneth was supposed to arrive on the 24th, but has yet to, and when I checked out the item on the seller's page, they had put a note saying that they would be away until the 4th of January. That note was not there when I made my order.
I am not impressed, and it has but a bit of a wrench in my plans for the next few weeks.

Edit: And now I have to take that all back, as it has just arrived. Feel free to shower me with humiliation for my whining.

Haha, Tethys had a perfectly reasonable whinge on the internet and then the situation was amicably resolved. Everyone laugh at him!

Just like Eldar will always be "a dying race" without actually dying out, the Swarm Fleets will always be "arriving in the galaxy" without actually arriving.

Yeah, who says they cannot bounce back? Surely there must be some pointy-eared researcher somewhere trying to restore the reproductive capabilities of the Eldar. They cannot all just be mooning around self-pityingly or drowning in drugs.

I finished my first Namarti Thrall for my Shadow Over Innsmouth-inspired Idoneth Deepkin. The lore idea for them is that they started worshipping a Slann (hence the star-design), which began to be altered by their worship, and started altering them in turn. Please tell me what you think, and if you have any suggestions for improvement I would greatly appreciate them!

Its an interesting conversion, i dig it.


Ive started to assemble my Baneblade, going with a default loadout with the standard cannon. I thought about magnetising the thing but i dont really have a lot of experience in doing that (outside of putting some magnets on the bases of minis for some cases i modified) and dont wana risk fucking something up.

Nice models! Unfamiliar with the lore or whatever behind them, but I must say they look fantastic!

Funny, I didn't even know that there used to be a WH40K CCG. Not that this surprises me, I used to buy packs of the Doomtrooper CCG ages ago. There also was a BattleTech CCG, come to think of it. Hell, many gaming company tried to cash in on the craze started by Magic: The Gathering. Very few actually continued to do so in the long run, though. In the end it were the anime franchises who actually managed to stay afloat besides M:tG until this very day, such as Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh. Not even the Star Trek and Star Wars CCG's managed to do that.

Things are obviously different now thanks to the much wider exposure to different games.

Yeah, there were 3 successive attempts at WH40K CCG. The first one was just called the CCG, the 2nd was Horus Heresy and the 3rd was Dark Millennium.

My second Thrall, if anyone is interested - I tried glazing the skin with metallic paint at the end rather than mixing metallic paint into each layer.

Your models are excellent as always. Your glazing technique idea is a curious one, and I'd love to see where you go with it and develop it.

As per the story... I dunno, maybe I just expect a high standard, but I'm not super enthused by your lore for these guys.

I really like the definition in the Muscles, looks good.

That is likely because this was a case where I took inspiration from outside Warhammer for the visual design of an army, and then just tried to loosely justify it in-lore, rather than what I usually do which is think up an interesting lore for an army from my knowledge of the Warhammer universe and then start working out their design. That is primarily because this is the first time I have purchased models for Age of Sigmar, and I have not been following the lore of that game system at all, because I am a bitter old individual still annoyed about the discontinuation of my largest army in old Fantasy. I will put some more thought into it.

Thank you all for the compliments! I sent the images to my local store manager and they said it could do with more colour, so I am experimenting with a nebula-effect on the blades instead of the muted verdigris, but at the moment it is just looking like a mess.

Makes sense. I guess all I can say then is keep tinkering. Completely agree with you on Fantasy though.

Store manager's advice is always best taken with a pinch of salt. I got that exact advice when I asked about my night-fighter Tau. Because, you know, Tau and Gue'vesa soldiers kitted out for a battle in pitch darkness are gonna want some of those bright colours.

Valkyrie assembled bar the cockpit frame, gona leave it till the very end and then glue it on. Was originally going to leave the rear hatch open and paint the inside but then my brain said "fuck that" and now its sealed up.

Also assembled that limited edition sister mini Tariana Palos and she is gona be the first miniature i paint this year. Only sister of Battle i have so im going to take my time with her and do her up nice.

Was planning on black armour, Orange cloth and silver and Bronze iconography with maybe a few touches of Red or Gold.
