Games workshop is now doing loot boxes.

You buy box, box contains random contents of certain theme. Box arrives, you have box and box contents

Warhammer Supply Drop is a new kind of bundle that’s available right now on our webstore. Each Supply Drop will be a hand-picked collection of products fitting a certain theme. The best bit? You’ll save a whopping 50% compared to what you’d pay getting the kits separately.

Not the first time they've done this. I can still remember "grab bag" sales they used to have in store.

A loot box is pretty much a Kinder surprise egg, but without the chocolate and not as cheap.

Hey, just me or are tyranids OP lore-wise? The only race I can think that stand a chance at defeating them are the Necrons (no DNA or stuff to steal, in-organic)
"Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.”

Oh certainly, theories as to the extent of them still closing on the galaxy ranges from 'this galaxy is probably doomed to be devoured' to 'the galaxy is an all-you-can-eat buffet which the Tyranids have booked out'. Sadly they have been shoved to the sideline because Games Workshop decided to push Chaos as much as possible, realising that Chaos was quite low down the lore tier list (both Necrons and Tyranids have huge advantages over them - anti-warp pylons and the Shadow respectively - and Waaagh! Beast made Horus's rebellion look like a minor threat). In 8th edition, it seemed like the Death Guard received more promotion than all of the Xenos races combined.

Back before Necrons were rewritten, my theory for the most likely endgame was:
1. The Tau die
2. The Eldar and the Imperium destroy Chaos at the cost of themselves (as the pointy-ears prophecize)
2. The Orks go down first out of the big three, as both Necrons and Tyranids can effectively deal with their Spores
3. The Necrons wipe out all Tyranids in the galaxy and return to sleep
4. More Tyranids arrive and eat whatever the Necrons spared.

With the new emotional Necrons who are no longer solely seeking the eradication of all life, I do not feel they stand the same chance, so I am also now leaning towards a Tyranid victory.

There is the outside chance that ghazkul beefs up the orks enough by bashing them against the imperium to get to uber beast status so they can kick off a waaagh into where ever the tyranids are from like the old ork/kork legends that get brought up occasionally talk about.

There is also the question of what the silent King's interaction with the nids in the space between galaxies was all about.

Or they could just pull the emperor snuffing it unleashing all his power and that of the astronomicon in one massive burst that burns the shadow, chaos and the necron fuckery out of existence.

Basically they have left enough holes and questions that they can pretty much do what they want.

They're meant to be, that's the beauty of lore. It doesn't need to be balanced like tabletop (though that really often isn't either), so the writers can trade having Jimmy Space and his Space Marines being able to kick E.T.'s ass to pull up some good old-fashioned existential horror at all our impending dooms.

The Tyranids are a shiver of sharks circling a sinking ship where the crew is trying to murder one another. Only a matter of time before they have their fill.

How do you reckon a race could defeat the tyranids? Currently the only way I can think of destroying one hive would be to lure them to a planet, and destroy the planet when their on it, as their speed is slow relative to other species, so you could likely outrun them.

Problem is the larger individual hives themselves tend to be too spread out over multiple worlds to defeat by destroying just one planet. But your idea is pretty much what Fidus Kryptman was doing to slow Leviathan, only he was carrying out Exterminatus on every consumable planet between Leviathan and their target.

Problem is, whilst it slows down the 'nids, killing a sizable portion of human life in the Segmentum is generally not seen to be the ideal outcome.

If the Pariah Nexus fucks up the synapse link then that'll be a big advantage for the 'crons.

The Necrons play the long game, they are not exactly in a hurry. All life perishes over time, but Necrons do not.

There is a Necron Lord who still thinks he is a Necrontyr, and sees the rest of his Species as still being Necrontyr and goes about conquering Imperial and Alien worlds to turn them into vassals as he thinks they too are Necrontyr. Always thought that was fascinating.

Gona try and google and see what his name was.

I keep debating internally whether to get this 3D-printed fan-made Pre Heresy Battle Barge. I absolutely adore the design and it fits perfectly with one of my chapters (the Scribes of Oblivion, as their flagship, the Brutal Honesty) but it is so darn expensive for the high-quality version.

Even though I've never played the original, I'd be interest in a BFG relaunch. I also figure that it is really economic in both money and time to assemble/paint.

They'll definitely have to bring out a special edition 28mm Admiral Spire model for that occasion though.
