The same thing as when the NationStates forum server crashed, resulting in the forever disappearance of the NationStates forums. So tragic.

Off the top of my head, Mkoll's and Dorden's stories was cool. I don't know much about this universe but from what I've read in the wiki being able to just body a Dreadnought by yourself seems akin to pummelling a tank irl, and the premise of refusing to leave wounded soldiers for dead was pretty cool and in my view well-executed despite the trope being familiar.

I did not like Larkin's story but I appreciate its uniqueness and how the author was attempting to experiment a bit with style. I also wasn't too much of a fan of Caffran's Omaha beach-like vignette, but I appreciate the character development put into him. The author seems to be setting him up to become an officer or something in a future novel (no spoilers please! I've just started Necropolis).

The very last story was fine. I thought it would be about Milo, and I wish more time was given to flesh him out in his own vignette.

Though they were not my favourites in terms of writing, I appreciated Rawne's and Corbec's because those were the characters I wanted to see more nuance from. If I had to pick a least favourite it would likely be Bragg's, just because I felt wrapping up all of the action and tension in a single line was bad writing, but then, this is still early days.
Enjoy Necropolis, it is a hot contender for my favourite in the series, and I believe that to be a popular opinion.

New Angels of Death trailer

In my opinion this is easily the best trailer they have put out, everything looks a lot smoother and more detailed

I have been dragged back once more. I was helping a beginner pick out their first army, and one of the suggestions they did not go for held my own interest - Splinter Fleet Fafnir, a small Tyranid army. I spent most of yesterday idly developing the idea in my head while simultaneously trying to resist the temptation, and then failed in the latter and ordered a Hive Tyrant.
For the briefest of summaries, Fafnir was a Dwarf who became a Dragon due to his avarice. Thus, I initially thought up the scheme shown below - fairly standard draconic colour, but with the shell being gold-edged caramel.
ImageImage

I am not a fan of how it turned out on the test model, quick lazy drybrush job though it was - not enough contrast in colour. I am thinking of changing the body to a very dark red or orange, but with a brighter orange and yellow in the ribcage and other such recesses to imitate dragon fire.
Next for the army. To reflect both Dwarf and Dragon, I plan to make a Vanguard army with the main body of the force being Hive Guard and Tyrant Guard (the 'Dwarfs'), and the Hive Tyrant converted into as close to a Dragon as I can get. I will see if I can angle it to rest on its forelimbs and hindlimbs, with its wings in the middle slot. I would like to convert the forelimbs and hindlimbs to more conventional draconic claws, and have a few Genestealer Scything Talons and other bits that I might be able to repurpose into the 'fingers'. It comes with two tails, so I am currently planning to cut one up to extend the neck with it. It has yet to arrive, however, so it may turn out that none of those ideas are viable.
The current lore I am thinking of using is that they are a splinter from Hive Fleet Behemoth that has diverged enough from its parent to be given its own classification. It splintered off after the Hive Fleet devoured a certain race of short space miners now lost to history, but as it was devouring a peculiar planet it felt the death-shock of its parent in the Battle of Macragge. By the time it recovered, it encountered a problem - the planet it was devouring had a massive quantity of gold (and possibly even gold-based life forms, depending on how out-there I want to go), which the hive ship had inadvertently eaten, processed, and bonded to to the point that it was either essential to its survival, addicted to, or both. When ships from it were next seen, they looked little like creatures of Behemoth anymore. The Inquisition gave them a new classification, but did not consider them as great a threat as the other splinters, deeming them weakened enough already by their own flawed adaptations. They have been roaming around, primarily targeting tithe ships and shrine worlds, with mixed success. However, the splitting of the galaxy has encouraged them farther afield, and in a battle on one sacred world, they first encountered and slew a member of the Adeptus Custodes, and first tasted Auramite. Now, it wants more, and with every piece it devours, it gets closer to biologically synthesising its own and making its creations nigh invincible.

Averland sunset could be a good colour to use for the armour panels. Mix it with another colour or apply a heavy shade and you could darken it down a good bit to then do some highlights and it could look really neat.

Or possibly building up layers of sandy colours.

I know this isn't too important but the audiobook narrator changed the way he voices Gaunt and now I'm a bit annoyed. I'll get used to it eventually, it's just really disorientating.

I'm trying to figure out how she's gonna use that big ass halberd. That's a two handed weapon, and she's got a hand occupied by that equally big ass shield.

Honestly though it is probably very impractical to use a halberd with a shield, but compared to a lot of the other nonsense in 40k its very tame id say.

But i like halberds so i want her : D

I prefer the original, but as far as modern GW and huge models go that's not the worst.

Just now noticing the shield has a bolter built into it. So im assuming the hand holding the shield fits into a hand guard bolter thingamajiggy that is built into the shield.

That would be a safe assumption. Interestingly, that would also imply that the ammo is stored and fed through the shield itself, which is a novel use of the magazine.

To be honest, so would I. Spear and shield has historically been an extremely common and effective combination on the medieval battle line, and no reason why it shouldn't be represented in Warhammer. Halberds on the other hand... well, let's just say they were great 2-handed weapons.
