So adapting Battlefleet Gothic to do space combat in my current Rogue Trader game since my group has struggled with RT's own system for it.

Actually hit upon a way to convert RT ships over, granted they're a little bit more powerful than BFG ships but not majorly so.

that's a pretty unique way of handling it. though this is from someone interested very much in the lore, but will likely never be able to afford an army, so take this with a grain of salt

It's a cool idea and I'm delighted to hear that it seems to working so far.

My m8s and I once tried a campaign in epic with small scale meetings of units being handled in 40k, it turned out just be clunky and a bit pointless. We had sort of being trying to replicate the mighty empires/WFB campaign system. I suppose it might have worked better using a game like battle for armageddon or the much later seige of terra.

Believe others have adapted the BFG rules for space combat in the 40K RPGs.

As for the actual conversion process, it is as follows;

This is start with the values in RT and then converting them to BFG, obviously do things in reverse if converting the other way.

Ship speed, times by 3.5 and then rounding up or down to the nearest 10 or 5.

Weapon range, times by 5.

Weapon strength, simply pick the highest value from either system even if.

Hull points divide by 10 and round up or down to the nearest whole number, would make some escorts survive that little bit longer.

Combat related components, look up what matches in BFG and have those as special rules.

I painted up my first miniature of the year, that special edition sister of battle: Tariana Palos i think is her name and im really happy with the result. Also started a few Necron test models which are almost done, happy with them so far too and primed some of my Melusai which im going to start tomorow.

If anyone wants ill get a photo or two of the Necrons and the sister up some point.

Resin does tend to break easier than regular plastics, but at least you are not putting together a multi-part pewter 6mm scale BattleMech manufactured by Iron Wind Metals. Those are apparently a training in advanced masochism to put together.

A few of the resin miniatures I have purchased from Forge World:
1. The first one, Captain Culln of the Red Scorpions. I purchased it at the Forge World store directly, but the only one they had was warped, so they offered to mail me another one at no extra charge. A month later it arrived... terribly warped.
2. A Vulture Gunship... not long before the plastic Valkyrie came out, and the Vulture became a lot cheaper. It arrived with a massive hole in the underside of the cockpit, the frame of which was twisted.
3. The most recent one, a little Squiggoth. It required so much filing and green stuff to get the pieces to fit together, and filing resin is not exactly safe.

I am also reminded of a joke - back when Necrons received their reboot, people would say 'Necron staffs are bent/broken', referring both to their in-game rules and the fact that the resin staffs were awfully fragile.

Hm. At least Forge World seems consistent when it comes to the state of their products, but it is not the kind of consistency we as customers desire.

To be fair, while the joints etcetera have always been rather bad, the instances of severe warping have decreased over the years.
