Speaking of which... I have been thinking of giving the novels a try. Any recommendations on where to start?

There are some proper starter books, like Crusade, but some I feel are good to start with are Brothers of the Snake (for an idealised version of Space Marines) or Helsreach (for a grim version), or First and Only or Fifteen Hours for a Guard perspective. It really depends what you are looking for - if you like tanks, Gunheads is superb. For titans, Titanicus. For humour that still manages to feel like Warhammer, For the Emperor. To catch up on current events, Dark Imperium. I could go on and on.

Know No Fear is amazing and Scars is overall my favourite Black Library novel, but jumping into the middle of the Horus Heresy series to start with might be a bit confusing.

Gaunts ghosts is a great series if you are interested in the imperial guard. Now that my brother has moved out i was planning on ordering my own set as ive not read them in years and never got to finish it either.

I painted up a five man team of Kasrkins that i got when i was a child. They only had a single very inconsistent layer of green on the metal so priming them and working on top of that did the job and i didnt lose any of the details either.

Used to be a 10 man squad, but three are gone and two were missing their backpacks so did those as tests for different schemes. Quite happy with the results.

Getting Attack on Titan from the first pic.

Altough the artist honestly was kinda lazy in that he recreated the exact 3 giant models that GW has shown, right down to individual equipment.

Pretty sure the artist did exactly what he was told to do. Marketing, you know.

And let's face it, it's better than wargamers complaining that the miniature is nothing like the artwork.

Honestly, the old artworks (like, really old artwork from the time of John Blanche, Dave Gallagher, Adrian Smith) were the arists had some rough idea of a concept and just ran with it were the best. This was also the time when GW still released units/weapon rules without models and would allow you a lot more creative freedom with the miniatures themselves.

On a personal note, I also like the old black and white pencil art more than the colorized and in many cases obviously digital newer art.

The eighties were a wild time, when the grim darkness of the far future was actually a lot more fluid and flexible.

I know a not-insignificant number of non-Imperial players who pick up Knights just because of how cool they look; I picked up some Armigers myself to mess with in my free time.

Chartreuse is my favorite color.

Yeah I've been considering a knight for some time now. It's really the ultimate "I. Cast. Fist!" model.

Big bit though, isn't it. Already got some hefty models and they're hard enough to put away.

If you're under fire in the no-man's land of WW1, you start digging a foxhole even if the ideal time would be when you *aren't* being bombarded, because once you wait for it to be 'time', other situations will need your attention, assuming you survive that long. This is one of those Kasrkin Models i mentioned earlier that i had worked on, its the sergeant and i painted him and the other fellas in a colour scheme based on that of the Marines from Halo Combat Evolved. Im quite happy with the result and the miniature was not too badly damaged with the 15 years or so he spent lying in one box or another, but i did have to cut off the top part of his power sword as it was just way too badly damaged and warped. I didnt know how to fix it so i sliced it and filed the edge a bit to look like a point.

I also gave these guys some custom basesw here i cut up some cardboard i had, glued it on and painted it up to look like some battered concrete or a road surface. First time i ever did that too and was happy with the result. I need to dig out a better camera or get a new one so i can take better quality photos.

I have started a new project! Just the one model for now, a Khornate Warsmith on Dark Abeyant - or using the rules for one at least. This will be interesting...

I will start at the end, so to speak, or rather the base, where I built a lovely little bunker!
Image

Then, I ruined it! (I broke one set of clippers in the process...) There are some guardsmen crushed underneath the rubble, poor chaps.

All because I performed a major conversion to a Venomcrawler kit using a Bretonnian Damsel. The problem was that the angle of the Venomcrawler would have her staring at the floor. Thus, I had to create a base for it to stand on to fix that problem.

This is Verita. first concept of her lore is that she was a genius warp-touched engineer who earned the respect of the Iron Warriors. She built a horde of Daemon-Engines, then forcibly claimed the title of Warsmith, rallying a number of traitor Astartes to her banner. Tzeentch took a liking to her, and made a prophecy - that she would one day become one of its Daemon Princes. Khorne found out about this, and sent a Herald to inform her. She was outraged at the thought of her fate being dictated, and immediately swore herself to Khorne. The resulting backlash severely affected Tzeentch, knocking it down a step in the Great Game. However, it refused to allow its prophecy to prove false, and its overwhelming power caused the Daemon Prince it had imagined to manifest as a separate entity. It then declared a curse - should the two ever meet and find out who the other is, both would cease to exist.
Her warband serves as a mercenary heavy support force, hired by other Khornate armies to deal with irritating obstacles like 'fortresses' and 'city walls' that get in the way of the fun.

Not yet, just placed to make sure it would work. I am planning on priming her with Leadbelcher and the base with Mechanicus Standard Grey. Thank you for your concern :)

Oooh, I like this idea. Are you going to do the demon prince as well, and have it so that they each don't know who the other is?

Indeed! It will be one of the four Daemon Princes for my Daemons army, the Quartet of Fools. My current plan is to use the Magos Dominus model as a base, and convert to be half mechanical, half mutated in a left/right split. I already have some Venomthrope tendrils, Scourge wings and maybe a Rat Ogre arm for the daemonic side, and will have to look for mecha-tendrils, maybe a wing from the new Skitarii etcetera. It will be floating, hunched over with the tendrils emerging from under its cloak and the wings holding it up. If I was brave enough, I would add optics on mechadendrites and eyes on stalks coming from the hood.
I am very tired, so this description might not make sense :)

So has Verita become some kind of Khorne Terminator, or am I just interpreting the model as it is currently being constructed wrong? Nice work in progress, by the way. I really like the fluff, too.
