There is a BL library novel from the Beast Arises Saga that features a navigator with non-navigator concubines.

However the conception of new navigators is only possible if both parents are navigators themselves. Which pretty much means that in addition to their other, um, unpleasantries they are also inbred like no tomorrow.

Hence the well-known imperial joke:

"How do you tell the difference between a Navigator's sister and father?"

You don't, they're the same person!

In Theory if they find a partner who is a carrier of the resesive gene then they have a 50/50 chance of spawning a navigator.
Of course for said partner to be a carrier if the gene they would need to have some relatively recent navigator heritage...

And why settle with 50/50 when it can be 100%... with your cousin who has this gene too.

Well, Session Zero tonight of a new Rogue Trader RPG campaign I'm running.

General gist is that the characters have been gathered together by the head of a Rogue Trader who claims that his blood runs through their veins and that he's looking for a worthy heir and successor. Rejuvenat treatments have started to fail and he's now slowly dying, hence why he's gathered the characters.

He'll explain that his offsprings are the result of various alliances and brokered deals over the decades, plus the fact that there are many more out there.

Sounds cool, I wish I knew enough people near me for that sort of thing.

Are Chaos Navigators a thing? I can't recall ever seeing one of those.

I would assume so. Chaos ships have to navigate in the Warp too.

But Chaos usually infers Daemons. And Daemons can see the Warp. They don't need the Astronomicon.

But Chaos usually infers Daemons. And Daemons can see the Warp. They don't need the Astronomicon.

Daemons aren't reliable at all. And some Chaos Legions have a rather bad relationship with Daemons. So I assume that some Chaos ships are navigated by Daemons, others by Navigators, others by Sorcerers and others by even crazier means.

However, I also assume that the fact that Navigators are already both mutants AND psykers will often result in them mutating into GRARAAAARGHRBLBLBL rather quickly when directly exposed to Chaos nastiness.

Navigators are surprisingly resistant to the influence and powers of chaos - much more so than a regular human, especially.

What sort of vehicle would you like to see by the way?

Only one I've seen for the moment I want to see cannon was somebody made a Tau Hulkbuster type suit which looks awesome.
