What's your guilty pleasure?

Postby New Excalibus » Tue Jun 25, 2019 7:56 pm

Recently I learned the term "guilty pleasure", which refers to a piece of art, music, cinema, really anything that you enjoy; although you and/or others may find it embarrassing.
For me, it's the 1985 song We Built this City by Starship. I personally like it because of its general feel and it can really get you hyped up. However, most people shun this song for the absolutely horrific 1995 music video, and I can see why.
That being said, what's your guilty pleasure? And make sure to give some background on why people generally dislike it?
Who knows. You might even find something truly brilliant.

Listening to KPop, especially BTS. I’m not a teenager anymore, but I tend to listen to their tunes. It’s embarrassing to me.

I have no guilty pleasures.

Why should I feel guilt over something that entertains me?

Listening to modern music and saying to myself I like them. I’m always embarrassed because I vowed that I never like modern music.

playing Roblox, heh it's fun to troll around children
also Anime; those soft-core hentai or probably hard-core ecchi ones, since watching anime has become mainstream and nothing to be ashamed of where I live in (it's not Japan!)

You feel bad you like them because you feel like you’re supposed to shun them, they’re bad entertainment and that you like it and that it’s not normally what you’d do?

I’d guess it’s because you are not a a fan of the thing and that you shun and highly disregard it. Like for me, I vigorously shun modern music because I hate it, but I feel guilty for also liking it because I believe it goes against what I normally like, or what is morally acceptable.

The Dead South, especially "Banjo Odyssey."

Very catchy tune. I was going to link the YouTube video, but then I remembered I'm supposed to be a mod and I'm not sure the lyrics are kosher for NS.

Yes. "Banjo Odyssey" and "In Hell I'll be in Good Company" are damn good songs by The Dead South.

Also, if you gotta warn me for this, I understand but I linked the videos in the above sentence because well hey... I'm not a mod so I'll bite that bullet.

As for my guilty pleasure, it has to be change collecting. I'm one of those idiots who'll bend over to pick up a penny on the sidewalk even though the time it takes to pick up the penny isn't cost effective for me.

Second guilty pleasure that's NS related.

Kicking Metamen's ego in the "Who would win in a war" F7 thread. It's just to much fun to say some MT/PT nation would beat him in a war.

Southern rock is my guilty pleasure, I like the acoustics and the sounds of that type of music. Lynrd Skynrd is a good example of southern rock.
