I too am surprised to see us get to "remember Minecraft?" level, but oh well. I never played it personally; never really saw the appeal, as I was playing Nintendo DS Harvest Moon games at the time.

Edit: it came out in 2011, and that was almost eight years ago? How does that math check out? Isn't it still only 2014? :o ;)

Minecraft's 10th year anniversary is actually May 17th of this year. I'm excited!

What I'm saying is that us, the generation that grew up playing Minecraft, is starting to revisit it. At least, that's what I've noticed. Minecraft's 10th year anniversary is approaching and I'm starting to get back into it. Minecraft holds a special place in my heart, and I feel a lot of nostalgia for the game, hence why I created this thread.

That thread was made 9 years ago. The only similarity between that thread and mine is the word "Minecraft."

I mean I play Minecraft, but I hardly ever play single player. I usually play on LAN when a friend is over or just go play on a server with others.

I used to play vanilla Minecraft, but I started getting bored of that and started messing about on Technic Launcher. Lately, when I play computer games at all (Not often), it's usually KSP.

Haven't been on for a year or so. Maybe I will at some point if I feel the inclination.

I guess so.
Personally, I don't remember playing Minecraft. Only obnoxious Minecraft thingies popping up in ads and start menus.

I have considered playing Minecraft, but never got round to playing it because I was more obsessed with realistic graphics than blocky graphics. Grand Theft Auto IV probably had a part in that.

Remember it? I still have it (Pocket Edition though). I don't consider myself part of the "Remember Minecraft?" club.

For a time the "sandbox" format appealed to me, along with the additional creatures depending on the version. However, as a casual player, I'm not that imaginative enough to create reasonably huge structures. Just build few villager's houses here and there, add some farm animals, then I'm done.

My main attempted project in Minecraft PE was a personal version of the land of Oz, which came across as exhausting. (I mean, I simultaneously built assorted structures for the North, South, East, West, and the Emerald City!) It's still unfinished until this day, and so far, it's unimpressive.

Survival mode becomes tedious after a while.

I legitimately cried when I heard Minecraft's soundtrack. The afternoons of playing Minecraft with my friends when I used to live in another country took over me, and I cried. I remember when we replaced the entire floor of a village with wood, and each of us had a little underground market guarded by lava and iron golems if someone tried to steal from us. Good times. I'll try to play again once 1.14 comes out, it seems that it's going to have some good stuff.

The first building that I ever built in Minecraft was a hotel. It was in the side of a cliff that I had mined out. It was two stories, had tons of room, and a huge creeper sign out front. That was 5 years ago, and I'm still mad at my brother for deleting it.

Minecraft never died. It's still a game for the actually intellectual people who want a thinking game instead some 8-year old cow dung like Fortnite. Literally. that game is legit built to make mindless drones.

Anyway.

I started when I was in third grade, played pocket edition every day, I built a couple of walled cities with underground tunnels. Then I got PC, but my mom's computer's graphics was turning the grass blocks purple.

So now I have it on my Xbox One and I play every weekend for like two hours. I build fortresses and stuff, nothing too complicated or simple. I'm not an expert at redstone and stuff, but I can make some pretty good stuff.

Anyway.

I played with friends a lot, and joined a towny server with them. Then my real life friends left the server, but I had invested too much time on it to quite. Eventually I was put in charge of a town (a Whiterun replica from Skyrim), then felt guilty whenever I wanted to quite. Eventually I found someone else to take over the town, which no longer exists. Only one or two of the people from then still play.

The mayor was not on when I joined, so someone from the town told me I could make a floating house by the floating staircase. I made it with dirt that I stole from below the top layer of someone's yard, and stole a sapling from a garden to get wood and more saplings, then returned it all. I also showed some kid the buried blocks of diamond for beacons... he was banned within an hour after I logged off.

Doesn’t lite delete your world as soon as you exit? I loved just building massive buildings and then leaving without a trace.

The game is constantly receiving major content updates. I haven't played it since ages but from what I've read it had it's ocean, combat and exploration parts enriched. Maybe you should revisit it at some point.

I wouldn't be able to access any of that. My copy is for the 360, and it's not connected to the internet.

You should definitely play it on PC. It's still an amazing game. Although it's been some time, I used to play it from time to time to relax. It's single-player mode is so relaxing and simple, despite the ever-increasing content updates.
