«Battlefield» series thread

Postby Dawetid » Sat Dec 29, 2018 5:18 pm

This is a thread for those that play any game in the Battlefield series.

I’ve only played 1942, Vietnam and BF2, and find BF2 the best of those. I’ve moved to BF2Hub to play online, currently I’m at rank Staff Sergeant. I also happen to be an amateur modder, and have dozens of mods installed.
There are some people that are there purely to oppose everything I say or do.

I've played 1942, Vietnam, 2, Bad Company 2, 4 and 1.

1942 is my personal favorite and I still go back to it like once or twice a year to get my nostalgia fix. The only other one I play with any regularity is 4, but that's mostly just as a drinking game with a friend. Haven't touched the rest in ages.

Battlefield V was totally misplaced.

I understand the need to improve inclusion, but if one wanted female soldiers in World War II, then they have to figure out which countries did employ front-line female soldiers during that time, rather than just picking a country at a whim and hoping for the best.

Unfortunately, World War II was not a good time for women’s rights, when compared to now — that is, voting rights were slowly being introduced worldwide at the time, but women in front-line combat was few and far between.

If one wanted to make a FPS with women in prominent roles, the late-20th century to the 21st century would be a more appropriate setting.

First Battlefield game I played was Bad Company 2 and since then, I knew the Battlefield series was offering me what I'd felt the Call of Duty series had stopped offering me.

Since then, I was really invested in Battlefield 3 and 4. Most recently purchased Battlefield Hardline and Battlefield 1. Haven't played online on either of those two yet, but overall the best experience with Battlefield was my online multiplayer matches on Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 and 4.

Personally, Battlefield games simply have a bad time with the single player stories. They're decent at best and awful for the most part. The single player for Hardline is atrocious, absolutely horrid. The single player for Battlefield 1 could use improvement but at least its better than Hardline's single player.

But singleplayer for 1942/Vietnam/2/2142 was good - almost the same as multiplayer, except bots can't do some things that humans can - and there is no story behind them.
