Who likes/writes poems???

Personally, I feel like her poems are way too simplistic. Her poems have no nuance at all, and a lot of them read more like a contrived form of prose than actual poems. They just make you feel emo, but they don't make you think about why you feel emo.

Agreed. Her poems do not promote introspection. But I must admit that I do find her presentation (the fonts she uses and the art used for her poems) nice. The poetry however? Eh.

Then again, unlike me, she's published so she must be appealing to some or must be doing something right to have the following she does.

To a certain extent, I suppose poems also have to make themselves understood. In that aspect, she's more successful than the more esoteric poets like, say, Geoffrey Hill (whose poems, while good, would probably sound the same if you read them backwards).

I'd imagine that for many people, the first thing that comes to mind when they think of poetry is the 17th-century poetry of weird people like John Donne.

During the Renaissance era, English spelling was not set in stone; as such, a lot of poets and writers spelt words as they sounded.

A lot of publications will usually modernise the spelling to some extent, but this is how I remember the poem as I read it.

If I recall correctly, he had one poem where he scolded a woman and told her something along the lines of "you'll be shunned like a used dildo", and another one where he said "Get away little boy, I'm having an affair with your mother".

Poems suck I don't understand them

Aside from music, poetry is the most abstract form of art. The only reason music is more abstract is because it's a universal language. WIth poetry, anyone can give off any emotion or thought at a given time. look at some poems by percy bysshe shelley. He struggled with the ideas of knowing the purpose of ones self, something we all can relate to, and he did a remarkable job of putting it on paper.

I write poems or songs sometimes even though I can't really sing the songs that I've written. I'd love to write short stories as well if I have some free time. Because when I was in Year 12, my English teacher said I have a unique way of telling stories, and the plot of some short stories I wrote are interesting. Though the teacher said I need to improve my grammar. Just one of those problems if English is not your first language.

If I may suggest this: don't use a translator for poetry. That sounds ok in English but in Spanish... (as a native Spanish speaker), it translated very cringy. Like someone dragging their nails against a chalkboard.
