Oh no doubt, RE isn't going to change the habit of a lifetime at this point. The fact they are going down the vampire route is a bit of a shift nonetheless.

I have a lower bar for mods, but it is a bit of a mess. I get the feeling that they tried to do too much with it. It'd be better to do one thing and do it really well, than try to do hundreds of things really awfully. The mod loses all sense of coherence in terms of story and worldbuilding after going through it for a while.

Got into They are Billions again recently. Gona give the campaign another bash, there is basically zero story but some of the campaign missions can be fun and i might play the survival mode again too.

It definitely seems that way. It looks as if they just took a bunch of missions/ideas from various other games and just slammed them together without any thoughts about cohesion or story telling.

I mean from that video two back to back story missions are seemingly:

A: Board a super death laser space station in orbit of earth and fight your way through a mix of Wolfenstein and Deadspace inspired levels to kill a Nazi esque Scientist who wants to gas the world and then end it with a dog fight in space between two star fighters.

B: Then You are back on Earth and have to rescue an NCR soldier who was abducted by the Legion after her squad was killed and was used as the personal sex slave of the legion commander and raped repeatedly and is not mentally broken as a result and you try and talk to her about it.

Wat

On a similar note, I've been trying out that Dyson Sphere game that's been doing the rounds.

Very annoyed to rediscover the actual recipes for things like screws and steel after getting lucky with hard drives the last time I played and getting vastly superior alternatives.

I had a look at the visuals of that game and wasn't really that impressed. I haven't seen any of the gameplay though, so maybe it's the gameplay that redeems it.

Based on what my YouTube recommendations currently look like, everyone who has ever made a video about any kind of factory game has now pivoted to making videos about Dyson Sphere Program, so there should be no shortage of gameplay to check out.

The gameplay is some basic factory building stuff thus far, but I'm quite impressed with the ease of use.
The UI and controls are nice and intuitive with plenty of handy shortcuts, and some nice stats pages to work with. So far I'm quite impressed.

Along with the factory building there's a separate "mini-game" that involves managing and upgrading your personal mech, which is the "builder". It's enough to add an extra layer of achievable goals without being too much of a chore.
I haven't got to another planet yet but I'm excited to find out how the shipping stuff offworld works out.

Presumably a few planets will have to be demolished in order to make way for a galactic bypass.

I'm starting to think The Frontier might be dead for good. At the very least there will likely be a push to remove the content for ethical reasons that the particular developer worked on from the mod, but I'm not sure if they'll be able to disentangle the mod assets that he worked on from the rest of the mod, as if he was one of the makers of some of the major mod assets then it'll be hard to separate it and replace it. As far as I'm aware they haven't said what his particular role was in terms of what assets he designed, but if it was something like level design then the entire mod is going to get thrown in the trash.

Apparently, the "secret" pacifist ending in the Captain's Edition mod for FTL involves the capitulation of the Federation to the rebels and not the other way around, as I'd thought. And to that I say fuck right off, I will never try for that achievement if that's how things go down, I would never in a million years surrender to the xenophobic rebel scum.

No it's supposedly something else, but I can't say it here because PG-13 and all.
