Oh no doubt, RE isn't going to change the habit of a lifetime at this point. The fact they are going down the vampire route is a bit of a shift nonetheless.

It definitely seems that way. It looks as if they just took a bunch of missions/ideas from various other games and just slammed them together without any thoughts about cohesion or story telling. The New California Republic wrote:
I have a lower bar for mods, but it is a bit of a mess. I get the feeling that they tried to do too much with it. It'd be better to do one thing and do it really well, than try to do hundreds of things really awfully. The mod loses all sense of coherence in terms of story and worldbuilding after going through it for a while.

On a similar note, I've been trying out that Dyson Sphere game that's been doing the rounds.
I've decided that the best way to keep myself from getting overwhelmed is to just embrace the spaghetti.

I had a look at the visuals of that game and wasn't really that impressed. I haven't seen any of the gameplay though, so maybe it's the gameplay that redeems it.

The gameplay is some basic factory building stuff thus far, but I'm quite impressed with the ease of use.
The UI and controls are nice and intuitive with plenty of handy shortcuts, and some nice stats pages to work with. So far I'm quite impressed.
Along with the factory building there's a separate "mini-game" that involves managing and upgrading your personal mech, which is the "builder". It's enough to add an extra layer of achievable goals without being too much of a chore.
I haven't got to another planet yet but I'm excited to find out how the shipping stuff offworld works out.
