No idea about ancestors, but Xcom 2 is one of those games which you'll spend 11 hours in one day playing. Have fun!

I know that feel. I remember keeping my copy of Ace Combat Zero around for years after I lost my PS2. When I finally had a gaming computer, and when PS2 emulators finally supported the game, my copy was nowhere to be found.

Luckily I didn’t, ahem, need the physical disc.

Lucky! I don't have a gaming PC though.

I’m definitely excited for XCOM 2, especially since it has that commanding a resistance movement against an authoritarian government theme going on alongside the typical alien invaders plot. Saving it for later though since I know I’ll like it.

Meanwhile, Ancestors is one of the most original survival games I’ve ever played. It is utterly fascinating to actually play through the evolution of humanity, especially since you can alter evolution from how it went down historically by focusing on certain skill sets over others. The game is ridiculously frustrating at times, as many reviewers have noted, but it’s also incredibly rewarding because of that. For example, take your typical caveman foe Sabertooth Tigers. When you first encounter them they’ll be picking off your young, old, and inattentive left and right, but you can gradually become more and more effective at handling encounters if you learn from your mistakes. There’s a tangible sense of satisfaction from finally forming hunting parties with spears to drive them out of an area for good. Maybe it’s because the subject matter focuses on the literal growth of the human race, but few other games have ever had me so invested in progress and in game feats. I have newfound respect for our early ancestors. They faced down predators and stuck random things in their mouths so we could have the shitposting civilization we enjoy today.

It’s very annoying that you have to figure out just about everything yourself though, especially since some game mechanics are counterintuitive. I guess early humans took their literal infants with them everywhere they went because your species never learns anything unless babies are nearby when you accomplish a task. You have to fight tigers and crocodiles with babies clinging to you to efficiently learn new combat tactics.
TG me about my avatars for useless trivia.

A very good link right here.

So they fixed Railjack in WF to make it less expensive.

Didn't remove building time for some reason though, so everything still take >24 hours to get completely done.

You know what remake I really want? FF 6.

It's always been the game I was most interested in, but never got into cause, you know, I hate turn based RPGs.

My god, the Icon of Sin is damn near impossible to beat without Sentinel Armor. It's a never ending storm of hellfire, enormous Falcon Punches and motherfucking asteroids falling from the sky. Seriously Icon of Sin makes King's Fall look like Yandere Simulator. Then you have the ECKSBAWKS HUEG Mega Satan Forehead Laser...this game is insane.

I still liked this game though

I am continuing with my LGBT playthrough of RimWorld, but I was dissatisfied with the abysmally low rates of LGB people in the game (Trans people are not in the game, yet...). So I went diving in the game files to do some editing. There is a file called "Traits_Singular.xml" that determines the likelihood of traits appearing in the randomly generated characters in the game (C:\Program Files (x86)\RimWorld Royalty\Data\Core\Defs\TraitDefs), which you can copy to the desktop and edit (the files in the game folders themselves are often locked to prevent direct editing) with wordpad or whatever other text editor you use. Open the file and search for "Gay", "Bisexual", "Asexual" one at a time, and there will be a decimal number below each, such as 0.3 in the case of Gay, 0.2 in the case of Bisexual, and 0.2 in the case of Asexual. I changed all those numbers to 2.0, saved the file, and then copy and pasted the file from the desktop into the original folder (it will ask you whether you want to overwrite the original, and will ask you to confirm you have admin permissions, which you can just agree to).

Voilà! People with those traits now appear much more frequently, for instance the large trade caravans from other factions will now usually have one or two people with one of those traits. It also affects how common the traits appear when you are starting a new game and randomly generating the starting colonists.

You can obviously use the same trick to change the likelihood of other traits appearing, if you feel that other traits are more desirable too, such as the "transhumanist" if you want to develop a happy colony of cyborgs.

One last thing: as always, make a backup of the original file somewhere, so that you can restore the original file if something goes wrong.

You will also likely need to edit the file again with each new update, as I have noticed that updating tends to reset the values in the file to the defaults.

To each his own I guess. Personally I was more perturbed by the fact that children and breeding are not in the game. Like I want my army of dwarfcolonist baby warriors.
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

You are good son, real good. Maybe even the best. o7

I thought about putting this in the Covid thread, but... I think this fits a bit more here.

I have to be honest, I never quite played TF2 that frequently before. It was not because of the hate I have towards it; no hate at all. I actually watched well-made and crazy SFM videos made out of the characters (and others), but TF2 was just something that I never got into and missed out, even though I am quite fond of it. Maybe I should give it a try if I am not too busy.

i would definitely recommend it, the community servers and gamemodes are especially fun. i myself have put in a good amount of hours (perhaps too many), and it's always fun to return to, a decent-ish community to be a part of. thanks for the good memories, rick.
