Just finished playing Blacksad. It was quite good. I'd give it an 8 out of 10. I liked the film noir atmosphere of it, and the story was full of twists and turns. I'd recommend it to people who like crime/mystery games like The Wolf Among Us and L.A. Noire.

Finished my play through of The Outer Worlds where I go on a murderous rampage, but unfortunately I can't kill everyone.

Ah, the curse of the essential NPC...

True that. Luckily there aren't that many. Just two, only one of which is actually essential, based on who you side with.

I mean don't get me wrong, I can see the need for essential NPCs to be a thing in some instances, since it can royally fuck up quests if certain NPCs get accidentally killed by enemies; but at the same time it can be a bit immersion-breaking if someone can take a rocket to the face and they just fall down unconscious.

Might be a normal reaction, though. When was the last time you took a rocket to the face? Maybe video games exaggerate the effect.

Yeah, and technically the only reason you can't kill them is because it immediately enters a dialogue that you can't get out of, and once it finishes it plays the endgame cutscene.

I recall the days of Morrowind when you could kill the wrong person and render the game unfinishable.

It's rather jarring when a buff super mutant with arms and legs like tree trunks gets totally dismembered by the rocket, leaving behind a bloody torso, but a frail old granny gets the same treatment and she is just given an unscheduled nap for a few seconds; having a free pass because she just happens to be needed in some obscure secondary quest at some point.

But at the same time there have been some NPCs that probably should have been set as essential but actually haven't, as shown by going to a certain location to start a quest but they have all been wiped out in an unscripted manner by a wandering Deathclaw, or everyone is just dead on arrival from unknown causes. I've lost count of the number of times I have had to engage in console command necromancy to make quests available.

Bruh...I feel the same way. I know it's broken, and that it will never, ever be fixed. I just want the big ship that does the pew pew thing cause I like spaceships and spaceship-related games. It hurt to build, but my interest in aerospace somehow stayed together long enough to finish it. And I'm only MR8.

Of course Wally has to show up and shove himself into USS General Kenobi's hyperdrive. What a fucking Prima Donna.

So I got Assassin Creed Black Flag and Rouge for the Nintendo Switch a couple of days ago(it was a package deal costing around 30$ I think) and have been playing Black Flag. The game is still fun. Raiding ships as a pirate and taking their shit does not get old.
I do be tired

Didn't it give you some weird, cryptic message about the thread of fate being severed or something?

With this character's death, the thread of prophecy is severed. Reload a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created.

There is something similar if you kill Ocelot in MGS3.

It's especially jarring on account of it being Colonel Campbell's voice that talks about it, since he isn't even in the game...

I got Fallout 4 for Christmas and had a nuclear blast with it. Granted, it was the only Fallout game I've played and I ain't touching Fallout 76 with a 10 foot pole, so there is that.

New Vegas is way better, but FO4 is still a very solid game. The graphics are good and I absolutely loved the settlement building mechanics. I just wish the gameplay itself was better, and there was more to do in the world.

It's just a shame that the endings of F4 suck dong.

F3 and FNV are better with all the expansions.

The way the Brotherhood are literally airdropped into the story halfway through was just a sign of how threadbare the story was, the fact that they were needed to actually make it go anywhere. And the fact that they made the Brotherhood go back to their Nazi-esque roots was so forced as well. The game was crying out for the Enclave to return as the major antagonist, but they made the Brotherhood into an Enclave caricature instead. For shame. They really missed a trick, as who wouldn't want to see the Institute going toe-to-toe with the Enclave?

I don't think there's any way they could have justified the existance of the Enclave in Boston without retconning both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.
