Playing through Pillars of Eternity now, just beat Act I. Hopefully I find a 6th companion soon because Durance is driving me nuts.

More "Why did I buy that?"

My answer to that question is always Humble Bundle.

Or Captain Morgan's, but only the one time.

I dont know why but i think i might play wow again, not touched it in like 5 years but im honestly considering setting up my own account instead of just having a character on my brothers.

But im not a huge mmo person, i usually play them for a few months then leave them for a bit, so dont know whether it would be worth the money then. Though WoW was the one i have played the longest and the most often up until a few years ago.

You can play up to the current expansion on just the monthly price FYI.

Ah thanks for telling me.

In regards to the expansions, ive played through burning crusade, wrath of the litch king, a bit of cataclysm and then thats about it, so tonnes of stuff ive missed out on. So most Cata stuff, Mists, Legion, Warlords and the new one.

Right now the leveling experience until new content is pretty bad from what I hear, not everything is scaled properly with the stat squish. But you also have to play through Legion to get rep to unlock allied races.

SO glad I got Rise of the Tomb Raider. On sale for $10, I feel like I robbed Steam, what a steal.

I set all the possible graphics settings to the very highest and it warned me that it requires a video card at least over 8 gigs (mine is 16) and is very resource intensive. My laptop handles that easy and still runs extremely smooth, to the point that it feels lifelike. The game itself is absolutely beautiful. The soundtrack is cinematic, the shots are pristine, the lighting and details are outstanding (there’s even a hair option, because it renders every strand of hair as its own thing for added realism). I feel like I’m playing through an interactive movie rather than your average video game. I love it

So... BF 5 is not doing so great with the sales.

I'm not going to talk too much about the ongoing issues it has, other than the fact that it's usually great if you don't hammer in the politics that much.

It's all about subtlety.

Meanwhile Activision-Blizzard manages to sell one of the lowest-effort, most overpriced titles in the CoD franchise and people are barely raising an eyebrow - but I guess whining about "sjw ruining gaming" is more important than Activision basically telling their customers "fuck you" and charging 60+ dollars for lazy multiplayer and zombie mode as singleplayer. Well done, EA, thanks for the unvoluntary smoke screen.

And speaking of CoD I haven't seen anyone complaining when the game was throwing at you quotes from Dick Cheney or Dubya - wasn't that on the nose as well ? Whjy weren't people complaining ? The sad truth is that "take politics out of mah games" usually means "take politics I don't like out of my game". Subtelty seems only to be required for certain kinds of politics.

Because CoD is already dying.

The same thing that EA explicitly told it's customers.

1) The franchise had been said as "dying" since at the very least Ghosts and yet they still make a shit-ton of money and still will despite the declining quality. Declining, perhaps, nowhere near "dying." Three years ago Infinite Warfare was supposed to be the final nail in the coffin and we all say how it turned out eventually : a shitty game still making one hell of a lot of money.

2) EA's answer was fucking terrible, no one is denying that, and EA's PR has been consistently terrible since 2015 (see the whole Battlefront II debacle for instance or MEA). There is however an order of magnitude of difference between a knee-jerk reaction that should have never been made public and a publisher charging 6o dollars (100+ for the whole package) for something that should barely be sold at 20 dollars or more and essentially turning its paid game into pay-to-win since three iterations. To me both CoD and BF follow terrible business models, but CoD has arguably become worse.

In any case, I can understand the uproar following EA's disastrous statement, because it's EA and they're a fucking terrible company to begin with, just barely below Konami in the overral shit list of video game corporation (and juuust above Activision-Blizzard). But the "women in BF5" controversy to begin with feels just like a big balloon of hot air and nothing more to me. There are problems in the AAA video game industry than are more pressing that developers adding women in their games but hey, it's your right to think otherwise.

3)Meme as you want (even with an irrelevant meme), but the fact remains that the "no politics in my games" crowd only wakes up when they are confronted to liberal politics.

I'm a bit cautious about their transition towards open-world, or quasi open-world (many studios have failed there) but it does look interesting, even if the post-apocalyptic aesthetic is kinda stale.
