Like. I'm so fucking BAFFLED.

You can't alienate your customer base while also expecting profit for the investors they're trying to satisfy.

All Publishers/Devs are evil unless they hit a hot streak of really good games. I remember when Bethsoft were the Good GuysTM from 2012 - 2015

Of course, the reality of the situation is, like all unregulated multi-billion dollar industries, the best players are, at their core, anti-consumer and have horrendous working conditions. They also don't let devs unionize.

Considering that their "measured" response to Rockstar obsessing over horse testicles to the point of being detrimental to the lives of their employees instead of better online game modes was "Meh it's a living"... don't hold your breath for them either.

Let's just settle for distrusting all publishers on principal and grudgingly acknowledging the occasional success story.
And this is my professional opinion as a game programmer.
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. You know what I just realized. Bethesda loves factionalism as a plot element.

A reflection of their studio culture, perhaps?

The reason Fallout 76 sucks so bad is cuz the programming teams are shooting laser muskets at each other while trying to make it

Holy shit this kind of makes sense considering that they split up their teams for Fallout and TES (mainly), and there's usually two factions with the most care put into them or the most story focus.

In Skyrim it was the Imperials/Stormcloaks, in Fallout 4 it was the Minutemen/Institute.

Reviewer called it transphobic because of the backstories, but the developer pointed out the backstories were written by trans backers.

Something similar to this happened a few years ago where RPS had a witch hunt basically over how the game defined gender roles. Same thing here its just a load of clickbait bollocks stirring up shit where there really is none in the first place.

Losing Battlestars in Deadlock is always painful.

Now i have access to the Minerva class (think Battlestar Pegasus) so maybe that can cheer me up. Till one of them gets blown up.
