Cutscene art is pretty neat too.

Gameplay wise, even though it takes place on a planet instead of in space like the other homeworld games it still feels like the same combat which is nice. All the vehicles ive used so far have had a purpose and its very fun using the rock-paper-scissors style of counter against enemy armies. Railguns kick ass especially.

I agree with Mandy on this a lot, and Deserts factors into it, but I really hope Homeworld stops being "Karen Saves All Creation"

And for some reason, the Infantry General is best-equipped to make Granger cry. China in general (pun not intended) could make Granger cry because massed Gatling Cannon and Gatling Tanks give Granger's PDL-equipped aircraft the finger.

Most of my fun was always using helis to drop squads of infantry into buildings and going full urban warfare, but those gatling tanks definitely were great for killing aircraft.

I forget the GLA generals, but I remember enjoying using one sniper character to pop the drivers out of US and Chinese vehicles and then taking them over and sending them back to my home base to build a hybrid army. Better if it was a construction vehicle to build a full hybrid base.

I would do the same thing in Total Annihilation. Use dragons teeth to build a prison camp with "rooms", and then having aerial transports pick up enemy construction vehicles to drop in there, before having my commander assimilate them, and then use them to build hybrid armies. It's always a fun tactic IMO, since you can get the best of both worlds. I don't know how many modern games allow it, though. I haven't really played any modern RTS titles, unless R.U.S.E. counts.

Ok, I really need to get this off my chest. First some background.
I've been watching gameplay walkthroughs of the Need of Speed video games for a short while now. I saw NFS Heat, Hot Pursuit Remastered, and NFS 2015. I just finished NFS Payback, and the post-credits scene got my inner theorist all excited. So, here goes:

1. The most basic one, the most grounded one based on the available information. Marcus Weir has replaced the collector as the big boss of the underworld, and Arkwright is just something like the Commission in real life. An oversight body for organized crime. This is corroborated by a message discovered by Underground Soldier, the hacker: "The Collector is just a puppet... His House nothing but a pawn... Everything you need to know is here, the Arkwright Files. End of message."

2. This one involves NFS Heat. Whoever Frank Mercer and his corrupt cops were selling to, that's Arkwright. Could possibly be combined with theory 1, I don't know why I have it separate.

3. This one is based on the password in one of the missions. "Great Flood" was the password. Now maybe I'm reading too much into this, but in the game, one of the locations is called "Ark Tower". As an NPC said: "In two years The House (the mob) can say they got the greatest tower in the Western United States". This indicates two things, one that The House owns Ark Tower, and two that they will have bragging rights for some reason. ARK Tower Arkwright, "Great Flood", you see where I'm going? Is Ark Tower for preserving something? Is some threat looming? Also, why did Underground Soldier say he had to get out-of-state? How bad is what he discovered?

4. Possibly just a continuation of the rant from 3. During one of the missions, Underground Soldier finds data pertaining to cars in the city. This was gathered from specialty parts from a brand called "Chidori". Now in a mission where 2 gold cars are stolen, one of them is said to have a sort of self-driving AI. Could the data gathered from the cars be used to create an algorithm for driverless cars. Interestingly enough, Mr. Kobashi, a representative of Arkwright says "Driverless cars can't come soon enough". There was also mention of road conditions, which I thought could be used to predict race outcomes, but since they were rigging the races anyway, there's no need for that.

5. Yeah, definitely a continuation of 4. Ok, so then there is the issue of the tech that was loaded into the cars. It said to originate from a defense lab in East Asia. Mr. Kobashi is Japanese, so maybe he owns the lab, or represents it owner. If Arkwright is a global weapons and defense tech smuggling ring, this could explain why The House outfitted their crony cops with EMPs, which probably don't come standard. It also explains why Underground Soldier had to leave the state.

6. The Broker, who is keen on brining down The House and their network. Now, she may be someone who knows about the full scale of Arkwright's activities, or at least suspects global connections. It's unlikely that she is a government official, since she relies on civilians a lot. Perhaps she was wronged in some way by Arkwright and vowed to expose them.

Conclusion: I read way too much into this. Also, Arkwright is probably a black-market tech smuggling ring, using The House to run tech. They also may have been helping develop a driverless car. Ark Tower, might just be a big safe, where they can store inventory. And The Broker could be a vengeful victim of Arkwright's out to destroy them.

Completed the campaign for Deserts of Kharak. Enjoyable enough campaign and the game play was fun, glad i gave it a go but id rate it lower than Homeworld's 1 and 2. I absolutely love the designs for vehicles in this game though, just like the other Homeworld games it has a solid visual design and art style. Definitely feels like its the same world.

I can understand why people are a bit annoyed with the focus on religious prophecies etc in the series but i personally dont mind them too much. I felt it fit this games story okay, actually kind of wish it was delved into a bit more. Huge Dune vibes from this game for me, especially with the Gaalseian leader, the Khad Sajuuk. Not sure if anyone else felt that way. Also didnt really surprise me when the Sakala betrays you and tries to take the crashed ship technology for themselves, figured it was gona happen when they set themselves up next to the plateau you are using as an airfield and their lander is the first one to arrive whilst your Coalition ones are still on the way.

Felt satisfying blowing them up. Blowing up Carriers in general in this game was very satisfying. I didnt spoiler the story stuff because the game is like six years old now so, figured thats plenty of time.

I’ve finally given game pass a try now. I don’t think I can go back to not having it.

I finished Undertale. I can see what all the hype is about, and I liked how character driven it was. I might go back and try a pacifist run. The game feels tediously long at times though.

I also tried Medal of Honor Airborne since it’s considered such a classic. It’s a very dated experience, but also very refreshing. I like the idea behind starting a level wherever you want. Also, more games need to let you keep a sidearm separately from your main two weapons.
TG me about my avatars for useless trivia.

There's a lot of cool stuff to find in game pass. You sometimes even find games you probably didn't even know were there and that choice is what Microsoft really nailed with the concept.

Now hopefully they put Silksong on there when and if it gets an Xbox release, and I'll be over the moon.

Microsoft game pass will definitely has been great and will be great in the long run. A large variety of games for everyone and their grandmother, and bring in the Blizzard IPs for mass appeal. It'll be an juggernaut of a subscription service.

So apparently since Battlefield 2042 isn't doing well with its sales. They're considering on making it free to play, not sure if this will happen but if it does. That's a plus in my book

I mean I bought it, but I'd endorse it. I can only see it as a good thing, and hopefully would sustain it or keep electronic arts somewhat active on it. Imo games going to be good after it gets the optimization that DICE is famous for not providing at launch.

The people who are against the free to play, are just like console fanboys and exclusives. They want it exclusive for the sake of having bragging rights, nothing more. They could give less of a shit for the developers, community, or even the game itself. Going FtP helps increase the size of the community, extends the games lifespan, and if they monetize it via cosmetics and microtransactions; keeps EA invested. I can only see good things coming from it.

I recently been playing Back 4 Blood a lot since I got it off gamepass and I have to say it's a really great game. I'm not sure why people are criticizing the game for. The gameplay is similar to Left 4 Dead with the exception of the card system of course.

I just don't get the hate?

It's fine, it's just not Left 4 Dead and it isn't 10 years ago.

Nah, the quality was just there back then. If you look at the behind the scene videos discussing its development, they talk about having over a hundred death animations which was reviewed by a stunt professional. Rather than a zombie reacting to a bullet to the chest and slumping down or flying away to a shotgun blast, you have zombies just fall to the ground. Without valve, there's not as much attention to detail. L4D was treated like a playable action movie, and given vivid animations to reflect that.

But if were just talking about the game standing alone. Yeah its fine, just generic compared to vermintide, deep rock galactic, and lacks the modding support the made L4D great. I think it's more amusing that only three developers from L4D actually made B4B.

Neato. I did pick up SC1 and 2 on Steam a long time ago, but hardly played either one. I should do that though, and check out that new game.

Speaking of TA, there are also some old abandonware sites and forums where you can get neat mods for the game. One added a third faction that had a really cool aesthetic, but I forget the name. I still have a physical copy of the game somewhere, but it's probably unplayable at this point, so I'm at least glad to have the backup on my old PC, and a steam copy too.

Personally I loved that series. From what I understand, they were well received by the community, but were considered flops due to it being a niche title.

I don't know if I could get into TA. My tolerance for old games and their gimmicks have waned over the years. Unless someone were to make a remaster or modernized the graphics, I don't think I could touch it. But I would have probably loved that game.
