French newspaper Libération (French language, paywall) published a report on Friday 10th July that digs further into Ubisoft's toxic working culture after a month of disturbing revelations about the Assassin's Creed maker.

To be perfectly honest I am confused as to how and why anyone can object to this behavior. I mean, I hate america. If the entire north american continent was to sink under the seas like Atlantis I wouldn't cry a single tear. And even I find this objection to be completely unreasonable.

Yeah, who cares? I certainly don't. The military is bloated and corrupt. We all know that already. Them blocking someone in a Twitch stream isn't suddenly blowing the lid off this. So get over it already.

So far the only criticism I see on Valhalla in the gameplay trailer is that the game is not about assassins anymore. Which doesn't bother me since I'm not very good at stealth and the fact that I get to go on raids is pretty cool.

Then they shouldn't call it ASSASSINS Creed.

Vikings used disguises and stealth all the time as part of family and tribal feuds.

One common tactic was known as "Hall Burning" or "House Burning" and involved locking someone in their home and setting the building on fire whilst maintaining a guard position around the building to kill any that tried to escape. Typically this included a group of raiders moving their way through a settlement and quietly dispatching guards and sentries before blocking the doors of a larger town hall or drinking hall and then setting the building on fire killing all inside.

Vikings also launched night raids where they quietly move through an enemy camp and assassinate/murder key targets under cover of darkness and would also carry out ambushes of enemy soldiers. They would use raiders if possible to open gates and entrances into towns ahead of the main attack and kill sentries etc

According to legend, the Thistle was adopted as the emblem of Scotland for the role it played in the defeat of a viking army by the Scots after the Viking army landed under darkness and tried to kill the sleeping scottish soldiers. In order to do so they removed their footwear and some even took of their armour to move quieter under dark but as they approached the scottish camp several of them stood on thistles and cried out in pain, alerting the Scottish soldiers to the sneak attack.

And as for the whole Templar vs Assassin why wouldnt there be a possibility of Viking Assassins? They are both ancient orders of people doing secret ancienty order things and if the Assassins can have Medieval assassins, Egyptian warriors and Greek hoplites in their ranks they can have vikings and pirates. Just like all the Templars are not knights walking around in heavy armour.

Vikings fought in more ways than just landing on a beach in broad daylight screaming whilst throwing axes. The notion Vikings didnt use stealth, trickery or assassinations in their arsenal on raids or larger conquests, or cant be assassins is frankly absurd. It may not be as well known as it is in other cultures, but they did do it.

Anyway this is AC we are talking about, where you can leap a couple of hundred feat in the air and land in some hay and then stab a dude in the back of the head unnoticed.

That's not the point. Nothing in the AC series makes sense, you're selectively applying a critical eye to a single game concept in the series when you, apparently, refuse to extend that to the earlier games in the series.

Saying that AC doesn't make sense and is historically inaccurate is a fine criticism if and only if you apply it evenly across the series, which you've seemed hesitant to do since you dropped the series at Black Flag.

Exactly. There are plenty of famous incidents where stuff like this happened. Like Guthrum of the Great Heathen Army launching a surprise attack on Alfred of Wessex while he and his court were feasting. Or Olga of Kiev after her husbands death agreeing to marry her husband killer, having them send her an honor guard, killing them through hall burning, going to the feast and telling the guards she simply outran her honor guard, had her men serve the wine and such, and then once everyone was drunk signaled her guards to massacre everyone in the feast.
