Finished Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, with only 90 Golden Spatulas instead of 100 because fuck finding all those socks and collecting all those shiny things for Krabs. God some of them tho were a bitch and a half to get like the Mermalair round thing puzzle. Still the game was pretty good for a remaster.

Grabbed this Night Call game off Game Pass. Was expecting some cool noir mystery. Got some dreary, nihilistic, incredibly French bullshit.

Pretty much. Thing was even in black and white for that pretentious student film feel. Complete waste of time.

I'm aware of what film noir is. But this game did it wrong. The black and white didn't come off as cool, just pretentious.

Film noir is not meant to be cool.

Film noir, (French: “dark film”) style of filmmaking characterized by such elements as cynical heroes, stark lighting effects, frequent use of flashbacks, intricate plots, and an underlying existentialist philosophy. The genre was prevalent mostly in American crime dramas of the post-World War II era.

It is however one of those categories where it is exceptionally easy to think you are far more clever than you actually are and end up creating something that's dull, cringe worthy or pretentious. Like, it just isn't an easy thing to master.
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

The above post contains hyperbole, metaphoric language, embellishment and exaggeration. It may also include badly translated figures of speech and misused idioms. Analyze accordingly.

Precisely. And that game was exactly that. Less a game, even. You don't really play anything. You occasionally click dialogue choices on these long ass cab rides. More the creators making something to preach at you with.

Played through some game called Observation. It was okay. Not really any replay value, but it was neat.
Got a little 2001: A Space Odyssey there near the end, though. That got weird.

I'm glad that Ellie didn't kill Abby at the end. I was internally shouting LET IT GO at Abby and Ellie at so many points during the game. If I was a character in the game I'd likely have grabbed them and physically shook them to try to get the message into their thick skulls.

Yeah same, i was a bit torn on it initially but ive grown to like the decision more as time has went on

They both ended up in really bad spot anyways: Ellie lost Joel, Jesse, Dina and her new family and Abby lost Owen, Mel, Manny, a lot of others and got fucking tortured for months in California, on top of all the hits they both took throughout the game.

I get what your saying but it does kind of ring hollow for me once you take in the fact Ellie killed dozens if not hundreds of people to get to Abby.

She learned from Ezio.

*kills hundreds of people* “The Auditore are not dead! I’m still here! ME! Ezio! Ezio Auditore!”

*confronts man directly responsible for family’s death* “No. Killing you won’t bring my family back.”

I have already moaned about the levels of violence and depravity that Ellie stooped to in order to find Abby.

Honestly that always confuses me with revenge stories. Like you killed a bunch of henchmen who were likely just trying to support their family, but then when confronted with the actual scumbag who did the bad thing killing them is a bit far? Like you have gone this far might as well go all the way.
