For anyone who has played Just Cause 4, how do you like it? I just started playing and the first few missions are awful. Escort mission, escort mission, that mission from GTA: San Andreas where you have to defend against the waves of RC planes, escort mission, stunt mission with the clunky and slow physics and movement mechanics...

I'm not having a great time so far.

G2A is a key reseller website. They sell you games via gray market sources. You won't "get in trouble," but there have been some reports of G2A selling keys acquired via stolen credit cards which were then revoked. If this happens, you won't get your money back.

If you buy from there, DON'T purchase G2A Shield, DO purchase through Paypal or a credit card that will allow you to issue chargebacks in case your key gets revoked.

Several developers have publicly stated that they would prefer people to pirate their games than buy them from G2A.

I'm going to be perfectly honest, I never found what's supposed to be so hard with that mission. People just drive too close to the train so Smoke can't get an angle to shoot at the Vagos. Just put a bit of distance between you and the train and he'll get them all before you even get to the tunnel.

I'm not having a great time so far.

The game just isn't good. The missions are dull and all the movement and combat mechanics seem like a downgrade from Just Cause 2, which I've put hundreds of hours into and love to death. (I never played 3 so I don't know how it compares). I wish I would have read the reviews more closely before buying it. I saw the low ratings but I thought they were only for the expansion for the game I had selected in the store at the moment. Now I've put more than 2 hours into the game and can't get a refund.

Edit: Nevermind, I never paid for it in the first place. I got it when the Epic Games store was giving it away for free.

G2A is mainly for PC games, which explains that.

For example I got Dark Souls for $7 when it was $40 on Steam.

Heh. The point of Dark Souls is actually that it's not stupidly heard — at risk of sounding pretentious, it's smartly hard. It's one of those games that is 90% skill, so the more you work at improving how good you are at it the better results you get. Its focus on epic boss battles makes it even more rewarding when you finally do it.
It's a pretty unique experience imo. Lots of "hard" games are just dumb hard, like they just add silly restrictions that make it difficult to progress for no good reason.

The only reason the Souls series made such a name for itself was because at the time of its release it was generally much harder than other AAA games released on the market.

Which unfortunatly has spurred the "Dark Souls of X meme" because people seem to forget that non-AAA games or old games generally are/were much harder. *Cough DCK Returns and Tropical Freeze*cough*Crash Bandicoot*cough*

Yeah the "Dark Souls of X" meme really grinded my gears. I've been playing Nethack for years before I started DS — if you're not familiar, Nethack is a game which makes Dark Souls look like Pokemon Go — so the zeitgeist around DS being this impossible-to-defeat game was very much lost on me.

I'm pretty sure I've died more times in DKC Returns than I ever would in Dark Souls, and DKC Returns is a guerilla monkey platform game for the Wii that was released almost an entire year before DS.

Yet no one talks about it because it wasn't a AAA game.

It's a pretty unique experience imo. Lots of "hard" games are just dumb hard, like they just add silly restrictions that make it difficult to progress for no good reason.

To elaborate on this. What makes the souls series "hard" is not that there is any additional real difficulty involved but how it is handled.

If you look at equivalent style combat RPG's like say Skyrim in those games the "combat system" operates very much without input from the player. Those games use stats to track your characters ability, usually using the rules of a D&D clone and your actions are restricted to selecting what to do and than allowing the game to roll a bunch of dice in the background and decide the outcome. So, you click dodge -> game rolls your dex vs enemy attack or whatever and graphic happen. In Souls games this is not the case. Success and failure are up to you, your actions and your skill. And the stats are there more or less to make sure you can't just access all the weapons, armor and spells in the game all at once and all at the beginning.

So where as in some other game you would have a stealth skill in souls backstabbing requires you to carefully sneak up on an enemy. Where as somewhere else you'd spend points on dodge or parry in Souls those rely on you personally learning the timing of enemy animations. You chose where and how to strike a boss, and have to manually find its weak points. You chose when and how to step out of the way. And etc. etc. So in that respect the game indeed becomes "hard" compared to other combat 3rd person RPG's because it actually requires you, the player to learn a skill in order to beat it as opposed to just trading time for victory by grinding up stats killing cheap enemies. And this leads to a very different experience than most other games, and one that some people find difficult. Personally though I find it to be rewarding as learning a skill and than using it to achieve something beats clicking the attack button 500 times to get a bunch of "I win" points to spend on my character.

In fact, I don't beat most regular RPG's because half way through I either become so strong I can't be beat and combat becomes a matter of outlasting the next bullet sponge or else I don't and the game feels like I am no better or stronger at the end than I was at the beginning. In Souls you don't get that. Every victory you achieve is YOUR victory. Every defeat is YOUR defeat. And it feels good.

=============
TLDR Souls games are a lot more like shooters where you have to learn skill and timing than most "RPG's" where it's all about grinding gear and stats. And that makes them hard for the traditional RPG crowd that aren't used to it.

Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.
