Advance Warfare was the last good one? From what I remember that was the most hated game in the community due to its loot boxes.

Loot boxes, shamelessly trying to get on the future war bandwagon 3 years too late, terrible story even for modern CoD standards, etc...

Yeah, nvm, I forgot that no one ever rates games by their campaigns, and only focus on multiplayer, which in turn ruins the campaign for the people who like the campaign. That being said, the AW campaign was pretty solid and memorable, like Ghosts. If we are rating a game's greatness by its multiplayer, then the last great COD game was BO2 hands down.

Ameriganastan wrote:I mean, it could be. China's standing military is about 2 million, with an extra 500K sitting reserve. Revolution is a numbers game. When a populace that big wants to stop putting up with shit, it just takes someone to get them all riled up and resisty. You can't stop them all.

They control the flow of information. Firewalls, Censorship, and Surveillance are all ways that china uses to prevent a large gathering to attempt a revolution. Also theres no telling your recruiting a loyalist, when your attempting to form a revolutionary group. Its not cookie cutter easy.

Except it really is. It really, really is. It just takes a lot more people than a bunch of MMO playing kids who might dislike curfew.

You have to realize something. Revolutions, as opposed to military coups are not won by force of arms. Nor are they formed and organized by shadowy committees and small groups of men plotting against the government. People like to hear stories of men such as Castro, Robespierre and Lenin and imagine them to be larger than life heroes who organized the masses and woke them up to the reality that they were being oppressed and did not even know it. But the reality is that they were just opportunists who took advantage of a situation already unfolding.

Revolutions that work happen organically from the people. And they happen in the exact same way election losses do. Both occur when and only when 51% of the population or more gets so fed up with their government that they decide that they hate the government more than they do each other. Like what happened in France or Russia when the people decided they actually preferred not starving to death to having a king. And like in France or Russia this usually only happens when the government makes things very bad for very many people all at once. And this in turn typically happens over big important thing like food and standards of living. Not about banning children from playing games over night.

The reason it takes this many people and have very little to do with just overwhelming the military. The primary being that government oppression is not the primary or even the most effective means of quieting discontent. That distinction belongs to all the content people who shrug their shoulders and get on with life because, for example, the ban on playing video games past a certain time at an age they have already grown out of really does not effect them. Now it might feel like I am belaboring this point. But it is important to understanding both how revolutions but also frankly our modern elections work. Because voting is just revolution without all the blood. And this very same mechanism is why you see democratic nations struggle on with bad governments and even entirely corrupt political systems simply because things aren't "bad enough".

Bottom line is this. If everyone knows someone who hates the government than it becomes impossible for those people to be suppressed by each other. And without that discourse and dissatisfaction travel by worth of mouth and spread like a plague. And like plague ulcers they fester and ache until they boil over. And its only at that point that a small group of "revolutionaries", be they domestic traitors, foreign mercenaries or both just has to swoop in and take control of the movement. Overwhelming the military does not even come into the calculation because by the time you have the critical mass to revolt you have already passed that milestone by an order of magnitude or more.

So yes, it really is that easy to start a successful revolution. Because it just happens on its own. What's hard is for the government to piss off so many people to such a degree that it actually does happen.

Now "what about democracy?" you'll ask, "what about freedom?". Yea no. Those things do not start revolutions. The western world thinks these things are all important and valuable. And its people like to pretend they are worth dying for. And to some few ideologues and fanatics they might well be. But those are the same sort of people who'd die for their faith, dear leader, soviet or what ever other thing they've been indoctrinated into worshiping. For the vast majority of people at the vast majority of times safety, security and prosperity take precedence over all of those. Which is why for some it seems so extremely difficult to start a revolution. You're looking at all the wrong reasons and wondering why nobody cares to go and fight for them.

And the reason this happens is simply cultural. The western world has, to a large degree convinced its populace that "freedom" and "democracy" are requirements for prosperity. That they are literal prerequisites. And maybe they are. I will not say either way. What I will say is that the vast majority of people in the world, and a sizable chunk even in the first world disagree. Which in the end is why revolutions seem to be so hard to come by.

Hope you managed to follow so far and this hasn't been too rambly.

No way in hell BO2 had a better multiplayer than BO1 or WAW. BO2 didn't even have mod support.

I started a new campaign in Darkest Dungeon lately, on radiant mode this time because i would like to have at least one campaign victory in the game before the sequel comes out.

Ive lost three heroes so far by like week 15.

All Men at Arms.

If you have a shield and an eye patch, just go home, just go home because you are going to die if you come here.

Finished the game Shardlight after powering through it in one long session (it was 6 hours for me). Good game, I liked the narrative, and I really liked the aesthetic of the world they were going for. I wish they offered more choices to effect the game like the devs eventually did with Unavowed and Technobablyon, but overall it was a great experience and I can heartily recommend it if you like point and click games and something short and sweet.

I've been, funnily enough, playing Minecraft with friends lately. I also managed to slip in a free Minecraft for Windows 10 three days before the feature disappeared, so I got to test out the new RTX beta for Minecraft, which was pretty sweet actually.

Not much of a multiplayer guy, so I wouldn't know...but then again, I enjoy the campaign of Call of Duty: Universal Century INFINITE WARFARE because I get to fight totally-not-Zekes. Suck it, Jon Snow Salen Kotch!

After roughly 18 or so matches, I have come to the conclusion that Doom Eternal's Battlemode is OK. Could use some work, wish there were some more modes. Really, the main driving force here is that sweet, sweet plat trophy.

On the other hand at least it's not boring, unless a Pain Elemental hides like a little bitch or if the Slayer decides to lead a Benny Hill style chase for 40 millennia.

Hey so my GF and I are having to make a decision about a game and we need some information.
We're about to lose Fallout 4 on our Xbox One Game Pass because of the rotation and we're considering our options.
My GF is concerned about her saves on the game and we want to know if we buy a hard copy would the saves be carried over?

They're preserved on the console right?

As far as i know your saves will be kept, and buying a physical copy wont effect that. You should be able to continue where you left off.

Ive not done it myself but looking online it definitely seems to be the case.

Xcom Chimera squad aint bad so far. I miss the customisation and making my own soldiers, but i understand why its not in this one giving everyone is a pre made set character.

Breach mechanic is cool and i like the art style of the cutscenes. Lets see how it goes.

Where exactly is this giveaway being conducted? It's past 18:00 BST (about 15 minutes past to be exact) where I am and Steam still lists the game as having a price tag. Is the giveaway on their website's store? Is it only in a certain region? Thanks in advance, and for those who are wondering why I'm asking, well, free game is good, and the Total War franchise seems like fun.

Ah okay. Just a misinterpretation of Google's results then. I guess it should give me time to read up on this game franchise. Thanks a lot for the clarification!
