Random question. I once, long ago saw a letsplay of a game that I don't remember the name for. Maybe you can help me figure it out. All I know i that it was basically an XCOM style game where the player runs a squad of KGB guys investigating a conspiracy related to aliens. Like, the first mission (all I ever saw) was them breaking into a research facility in Russia to investigate a scientist but they find him dead and have to escape.

Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

I know it's more Star Citizen nonsense, but seriously, just look at this article.

I'm about 50% sure this isn't satire, but it's still good for a laugh either way.

No

edit: Brother has it, sorted.

The Xbox version was actually on sale just a few days ago. Picked it up then.

I quite like the campaign. Definitely a breath of fresh air relative to other single player COD campaigns.

Ah balls just my luck.

Well, if you got to try it for free then that’s good too lol.

The campaign almost reminds me of Mass Effect, and E3N is great. Interesting worldbuilding too, though it’s hard to take the SDF seriously because they’re so cartoonishly, arse-grabbingly evil.

And the bad guy is Jon Snow.

I'm thinking Phantom Doctrine, although I don't know if that game has anything to do with aliens.

I mean, the breaking into a facility to find a target dead is how the KGB campaign of Phantom Doctrine starts, but the facility is a GRU building (I think), you're doing it to arrest the target, and you're doing this because the target is a suspected informant. I don't think there's a single serious mention of aliens in any of the three Phantom Doctrine campaigns.

I also think Xenonauts starts you in the base/world screen and not in a mission. If that's the case, then that is probably out too.

One day I wanna make a JRPG-styled game where you have a cloak which manifests into different pieces of clothing depending on the situation, a glove for your preferred hand which manifests into different physical tools and a glove for your non-preferred hand which manifests into magic and stuff, also there is freerunning, cell shading, 4x4 textures, its low poly and there is a skill menu and there is also immersive combat and a beautiful soundtrack and also there is custom character creation and when online, the game connects to other players and so you can see them all and stuff and when offline its just you and the npcs

im currently designing concepts until i can learn to code properly and also design games properly as well.

While I usually support anyone thumbing their nose at oppressive governments, Purp is right. Hell, China had banned all video games until about a year ago. You don't wanna get locked out of a newly open market with literally billions of potential customers cause of one guy who doesn't even work for you.

It was more a "Damned if you do, Damned if you don't" situation. Personally, I think Blizzard should have said, "This man is just a tournament participant who doesn't officially work for us, and therefore we are not responsible for his comments" or even better, just leave the guy be and not say anything at all. It was still such a stupid decision to ban the guy over a pro-HK comment.

Not really. I mean, lets be real here. Banning him might be bad PR in the west but western audiences have the memory and attention span of a goldfish. Nobody is going to give a dam or even remember this a couple months if not weeks from now. And even if by some miracle of chance they did what are they going to do? Boycott Bizzards games? Fat chance. The Government of China on the other hand has a long memory and the banhammer to make you know it.

Bottom line is that the loss from going with China is zero and going against them is uber.

You're right about the whole audience thing. r/Hearthstone is full of karma grabs like "Oh boo hoo hoo, give me le epic upboats because I deleted my whole Blizzard account". And the boycott, while it's connected to the HK protests and going really strong, really won't last as long as people say it will.

BUT...

Blizzard's decision told western audiences that they would rather side with China's government, which, as you know, doesn't have an exactly squeaky clean relationship. Wouldn't it be better to act neutrally and just treat all the pro-HK comments as part and parcel of tournaments and audiences? Censoring them would really only make the situation worse and eat away at PR in the west. You'd have boycotts every time Blizzard censored something, like at that university tournament, and eventually they'd cause a lot of damage.
