So They are Billions has left early access and its campaign mode is now in the game, so ive been playing through it again lately.

Overall its still a fun game, but the campaign is a mixed bag. A lot of the survival missions are very samey (just get your colony to X amount = win) though some have a few more varied set ups, one in particular which was fun to prepare for had me take over a peninsula to prepare for this massive wave of zombies that would hit from the bridge connecting to the mianland after 50 days (I fulfilled Donald's wet dream in that mission) and the train that they added changes up the pace of the game as its your source of new workers/colonists (and resources if you upgrade it via the tech tree).

Hero missions are very dull and tedious, its often just your hero going through a massive base on their own fighting off swarms of zombies and they dont have any special abilities or powers to use, so its very dull and the research and military tech you can find blends in completely with the environment with many of the objects you have to interact with look the exact same as ones that you cant interact with and are part of the scenery, so every room you enter you have to methodically hover your cursor over every fucking object to try and find one you can actually click on.

Swarm missions are frustrating, its less wave defense and more everything hits you at the same fucking time, though some of them have some good natural barriers you can use to funnel the zombies, and those ones are fine, but others were its a big open area with 1000 fast moving zombies bee lining for you when you have 30-40 men is a bit annoying.

I think if they just redesigned some of the missions, gave your hero abilities and made them available in every mission and the campaign would be pretty enjoyable in my opinion. Also add in more unique missions, like say defending a train station against swarms whilst a colony's population escapes on board the train as it comes in, and it drops off new troops for you every time it comes into the station or something. But for the moment the classic survival mode is better. Ill keep playing the campaign till i get bored of it i guess.

Whoever owns the Xbox One. Whole big list says these 360 games are playable on this thing, and none of them work.

TAS.... I just now learned this thing exist. And my questions are many. Chief among them how the hell anyone can actually do that and still have enough time to live. I mean, don't get me wrong, it sounds like something I would have loved to do back when I was a young man. But it sounds like something that can consume your life simply because it takes that much time.

What is this fascination with speedrunning? Where's the fun in beating the game that quick?

That's part of the fun - seeing how fast one can beat the game, either legit or with glitches. It's that, and then looking at leader boards, comparing times with other speedrunners, practicing runs and strats, and competing to see who can hold the record for the shortest run, or at least getting a kick out of seeing what clever methods other runners can figure out to get there.

Nowadays I think there are aspects of speedrunning or the speedrunning community that are pretty dumb and lulzy, but as a concept, I still do think that speedrunning (for certain games) can be pretty fun and entertaining. I'm personally a fan of Super Mario 64 Speedrunning.

It's a display of skill. No different than watching someone juggle, kick around a ball or do any other meaningless and ultimately useless activity. We humans are simply hard wired to enjoy watching other humans do something really well. Some more than others of course, thus accounting for tastes. But it's there.

I bought it 2 years ago, but I'm finally playing Ori And The Blind Forest.

Never played it; I should really get to it, though, especially with the new Ori game coming out.

I'm not great at Metroidvania titles either, though.

You know what game I really miss, that came out like a billion years ago on last gen? Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet.

That's actually the reason I finally booted it up. I saw Rebel Taxi mention the sequel coming in his last video, and remembered I'd never touched the first one yet.

The blaster fire in Fallen Order looks weird to me, seems way too slow compared to everything else star wars related.
