dimensional horror is the toughest right?

I think so but I've been able to kill it fairly easily with corvette spam. Get an Aggressive admiral, slap on the No Retreat war doctrine, and spam out corvettes with torpedoes and disruptors* and you should be fine. The dimensional horror will one shot your ships, but its accuracy and fire rate are fairly low, and so it'll take it quite some time to run through dozens or hundreds of corvettes.

*: Disruptors are probably not the best option for this, I just like using them. (Also, they have two advantages on normal weapons - one, the AI never seems to use crystal-forge plating, so they're really good late game in single player because hull points are relatively static but shields and armor are not, and two, taking out a starbase with disruptors preserves the shields and armor, making it harder to recapture. Neither of those help against the dimensional horror, but those are the primary reasons I use them on just about everything.)

I had this amazing soviet music mod i had on all the time like 2 years ago then it was never updated and i lost it so i know your pain.

You might just have to wait till the mods are updated

it pisses me off that music mods of all things could be broken. the soviet one was amazing. As was the german march one but they played too many nazi originals and versions for my comfort.

On my current playthrough of Stellaris something really fucking weird is happening: a neighbouring empire is collapsing in on itself. 13 different systems belonging to the empire have declared independence as 13 new empires, which is more than half of its inhabited systems. There doesn't seem to be any discernible reason for it, as the empire has not been invaded or anything like that. There seems to be some kind of strange domino effect happening. I mean I have seen empires lose one or two systems to uprisings on previous playthroughs, but this is the first time I've seen a empire at risk of collapse because of the number of systems declaring independence. I am getting USSR collapse vibes off of it.

It seems that the citizens of the parent civilization can't agree on what kind of government to use, and each system is embracing its own predominant civic.

The main empire is a militarist and fanatic materialist direct democracy. The various rebel empires come in a variety of flavours: monarchies, oligarchies, corporations, dictatorships etc, with an equally diverse set of civics: spiritual, egalitarian, pacifist, xenophilic, xenophobic etc, but many of them do seem to have either the materialist or the militarist civic. Most of the rebel empires are led by the same dominant species in the main empire, but a few of them are led by minorities, so it isn't even a racial thing that is causing most of it. Other systems still in the main empire are also showing signs of unrest of various kinds, which is making me think that the entire empire is going to be reduced to a bunch of disjointed fragments, with rebel empires between them.

That being said, it's hard to be a dictatorship when fanatic egalitarians keep forming the most attractive federations.
