How about both of you then just fucking stick one another on ignore then?

That's the plan. No need to worry.

You know what, I'm going to tell you to shut the fuck up, too. Here's something I shared in that Dev Diary:

I've had enough of the god-damn denigration and negativity on these forums. Everyone needs to shut the hell up and learn some positive reinforcement. When Paradox does something great like this, stop, think and CELEBRATE. Praise them! Praise Johan and the team for listening! This is one of the best Dev Diaries I've seen in years and I'm really overjoyed to celebrate this transition into a new style of thinking.

As an actual software developer that works on games I can categorically tell you that thing was being worked on at least a month before launch date. So it's either cut content that was meant to be a DLC later or half a DLC that's being doled out too early.

They had a functionally working game two months before release when the first Dev clash started, and a weeks worth of feedback from the content creators they gave review copies to.

So what you are saying is that this is content they have worked on for at least two months before release and that was not included into the release version even though it was finished? There is a word for that. Cut content. And sensible people don't take kindly to that sort of thing.

To be perfectly honest I don't know nor do I care. But if shouting at random strangers on the internet is going to help you loosen up conversation vise I hope you can find a more friendly venue to do that in.

Seems to me that it was developed in response to the dev clash and beta test. Not really that weird, I've done basically the exact same thing with computer programs I've created (although admittedly none of them were on anywhere near the same scale as Imperator).

That still does not change the fact that its content that was apparently ready at launch or less than a week after it that was not included in the product. Which raises reasonable suspicion as to their intent with said content.

Why? It's not like either of them is the sort of incorrigible scum that you can expect to just keep spewing hatred at me forever. They just happen to really care and be emotionally invested in this particular subject, that's all. They'll cool off eventually. No need to permanently exclude them just because they happened to get out of line on a subject near to their heart.

Considering that the only thing they've done with it is make it freely available, and there's absolutely no evidence that it was ready launch day, I'd say that suspicion in this case is not in fact reasonable. If they weren't planning on making it a DLC, great! If they were but they decided to make it free, then also great! Take the patch and be happy!

I didn't say 'put them on ignore permanently'. Just foe them and then unfoe them a day or a week later.

You mean except for the fact that it's ready and we are at launch day + what, 2? 3? As an actual developer I can openly tell you that's not how programming works.

Except that its very obvious that it was content that was ready for the game and yet had been deliberately withed for some reason. Which is bad. There is no legitimate reason for this. No more than for any other form of day 1 DLC, free or not.

I would actually have been far more benevolent on it had it come out several months from now as a DLC. Than they could have at least fooled me that it wasn't cut content.

I'm pretty sure that what was going on here was that the patch was going to take a few more days, and so they decided to release the game without it and then release the patch as soon as possible rather than delay release until it was done. But whatever, it was obviously a conspiracy by them to do... what were their motives here, exactly, I seem to have forgotten what the logic is in deliberately cutting content and then releasing it almost immediately. It makes them no money, earns them no friends, and doesn't make anybody buy the game that doesn't already have it, so they don't benefit by doing that. But then again, conspiracy theories for conspiracy theories' sake is pretty much just NSG's hallmark.

So what you're telling me is that you'd be happier if nothing changed but they released the patch much later and made you pay for it?
Excuse me while I

As I’m sure we’re all well aware, there is a point at which you can no longer develop the game and must prepare it for release.

So can I just clarify? We're angry that within about a week of release, they're patching several issues and releasing it for free, because it's hypothetically possible that in an alternate reality it might not have been free.

That seems entirely reasonable.

Also, why are pigs being stabbed?

TBH if you buy a game nowadays the day it was released, you're basically asking to be let down. Some games now seem to still be under production for months after they're released.

And if that means the game is unfinished, feature bare or just not fun people will complain and not buy it. That's just the way it goes.

And this is something we should tolerate and be happy with? I for one refuse to allow my standards to drop to that level. In no other industry would this sort of behavior be permitted. Imagine if you bought a car and the manufacturer promised to patch in breaks and headlights six months to a year after. Oh, and the stereo and AC are not there either. But you can wait a year and pay 1/6 of what your car was to get them installed.
