So I started yet another game of Victoria 2 with the plan of a Destruction Game as the United Kingdom breaking France to bits, but instead of actually acting on that plan, I've done my best to become a Tory and just unleash my inner douchebag on literally everyone. Is this what it's like to be British in real life?

Or you could play as a powerful nation and try to reverse it, fighting back the entire world in a truly amazing display of willpower and love for capitalism.

I've actually kinda got a headcanon of how things would progress from here on out. With no significant threats in the world, communism would look inwards and split into factions. Like Marxism versus Leninism versus Stalinism, but not, because this is alternate history.

There'd be the originalist, dominionists which would comprise of Germany, central Europe, and places where Germany wants to directly nurture communism in countries where the thought of it was previously inconceivable, like America. Germany would slowly decolonize Africa while still maintaining a close relationship with those nations and teach them how to live independently. As communication and infrastructure improves across the world, Germany and its dominion states would decentralize and try to become the ideal communist utopia without a well-defined state. And while the ideal is nice, Germany and its dominions are ideologically narrow and fervent in their desire to see the world share the same vision.

The second faction would be made of nations who were never actually touched by Germany, their revolutions were independent and self-made. Their outlook would largely be defined by intense scepticism of German ambition and the suspicion that Germany has hegemonic desires for the planet. The champions of this style would include the USSR, the Near East Populist Union, Argentina and the USCA. Over time, China would join this group, in spite of initial German influence, as a result of their personal struggle to unite their lands during the Warlord Era and developing their own flavor of communism as a result of it. The Balkans would also be influenced by this group, Greece joining for certain, while the debates between German and Soviet ideology would end up raging and tearing apart Yugoslavia. I also feel like Canada would join this group eventually, but not soon, as a result of its isolation. A century of peaceful debate would take place within the country and would eventually come to the conclusion that Germany must be opposed.

The third and final major faction on the planet would be comprised of nations that were converted to communism by Germany, but have an even more intense distrust and even hatred of Germany. The Worker's Commonwealth, France, Scandinavia and Italy would be a part of this. Spain is a nation that would join their cause very quickly. In terms of outlook, these nations would be influenced by their imperial histories and would be the group that becomes the most autocratic and drift to something similar to Stalinism. The people of these countries are fiercely patriotic and hate what Germany has done to their countries. If any of the countries in this faction were friendly to Germany during the game (Spain being the iconic nation here), they would end up suffering an anti-German revolution but retain the communist ideology. They would be the ones to actually cling onto their colonies and exploit them for their war machine.

A bit of exposition for minor nations, the Dutch would fall in the the Third faction, Belgium would stay with Germany, Romania would fall in with the Second, everyone else I didn't mention in Central Europe would stick with Germany (including the Swiss), Mexico would leave the First and join the Third but not soon, and finally, the Caribbean and South America would just turn into a clusterfuck of shifting ideologies. Oh, and I almost forgot about Denmark, they'd get fed up with German meddling and integrate into Scandinavia.

Italy is unique and special in the Third faction for being the most volatile and intensely jingoistic. They're a nation that has been looked down on, dismissed, and used by greater powers for the longest time and they've had enough. They're ambitions would be powerful enough to desire an empire not seen since Roman times, but the part that incenses the Italians the most is Germany holding cultural Italians in South Tyrol. Their entire nation would be the most ideologically unified in the world and despite their low total population compared to the other great powers of the world, they would build up over time to become the most dangerous nation on the planet because every man, woman, and even child would go to fight. And while the world have been becoming increasingly decadent as a result of protracted peace, Italians would train in secret. Their desires for Tyrol, Yugoslavian and beyond would be the spark that leads the world into the Great War that hasn't happened yet in this timeline. The Italians would be overwhelming successful in achieving their ambition to carve up until their faction actually kicks them out and turn on them for committing atrocities upon the populations that Italy conquers. The Italians would end up being almost exterminated in return, simply as a result of their overwhelming mobilization and refusal to surrender. The Worker's Commonwealth would gain Sicily, Spain would gain Naples, France would gain everything through to Lombardia, Rome and Sardinia. And Germany would gain Venetia.

And while I probably could develop even more history and make things even more complicated, I need to finally stop there because half of this post was thought up on the fly, and I never actually intended to turn this into a huge story, so stop rambling on you madwoman, you've gone insane and taken things too far, nobody's going to read all of this. All I really wanted to do was define the factions and their motivations.

My highlight though is still the aztec invasion of westeros where i had to fight them off in two titanic wars as the Son and later Grandson of Stannis Baratheon. That was fucking amazing and nothing has topped it so far.
