When I first started getting in to ck2 I really wanted to do a muslim pope run, but I didn't realise that they somehow haven't released a theocracy DLC yet.

Theocracies don't use dynastic succession, so playing as them would basically be an instant game over.
However, you can follow the following steps:
1: Open the console with the "`" (or "~") key.
2: Type in "charinfo" and mouse over the Pope. Remember or write down the character ID you see.
3: Type in "set_government <character ID (without brackets)> feudal_government".
4: Type in "play <character ID (without brackets)>.
5: Type in "set_religion <character ID (without brackets)> sunni_muslim (or "shia muslim", or "yazidi_muslim", or whatever)".
6 (optional): Type in "add_trait immortal" to make yourself immortal, so you'll always be playing the same character.

Yes and no. You don't need them, but they'll help for basic resources that you can't get from the ecumenopolis or ringworld (such as minerals).

And on a different topic, I just discovered a way to completely cheese the game: Machine Empire (just a basic ME), with Habitable Worlds and Primitive Civilizations set to 5x. You'll be absolutely swimming in planets because of your habitability buff, and you'll be able to roll over the entire galaxy (excluding Fallen Empires) by 2300. Administrative capacity is the only real issue, but because of all the tech you'll be getting from your tech-focused worlds, you'll be able to minimize the effects of being over admin cap and also increase admin cap through tech.

I apparently have the strongest fleet in my current game at 1.6k (which, considering how far into the game I am, is really bad by my own standards, which means its absolutely abysmal by everyone else's). I'm currently trying to build an L-gate quarantine system (which is why my fleet is so underpowered, because all of my alloys have been going to beefing up starbases) before opening up my L-gate.

Personally, I've always thought about playing full on Fanatic Purifiers with post-apocalyptic. Its free real estate terraforming!

God that was a glorious Austria run.
Damn that's a wonderful idea. I wonder if I should have done that.

They also helped me keep the Prussians down and all the tiny German states as Austrian satellite states. After France was dismantled and had learned their place they were a bro. Helped my ass out in murdering the Russians so much.

What civics are you running?

And I've long thought about running fanatic purifiers with Survivor, flavoring it as "our planet was almost destroyed by an alien invasion that we were only barely able to stop, so now that we're in space, we're going to make them pay". I think my next run might be either that or using Survivor and Shared Burdens to create the perfect Posadist utopia.

I don't recall at the moment, but I'm running an expanded starbases mod, so I can upgrade to citadels with 24 modules and buildings, a mod that brings back the old tier 2 and 3 fortresses, tactical ship sections (adds a bunch of cool shit for corvettes and destroyers), and a planetary defense mod. So my strat probably won't apply to a vanilla game.

Fanatic Purifiers with Life Seeded. You won't be able to colonise anything, but who cares, those other planets all stick of xenos.

Actually, as far as I remember, the popes in the early middle ages were quite dynastic, in a similar way to how merchant republics are represented in CK2. A few families of Rome vying for power in order to receive that sweet sweet tax on pilgrims. Wasn't until maybe the 12th century renaissance or a tad earlier that it became less secular and more influential outside Rome, but various dynasties continued to hold sway well into the actual renaissance.

Yeah, but they were all bastards because Popes were not allowed marry as head of religion. I do know that there were several dynasties, but they were all illegitimate at best. That’s atleast what I was told in history class.

Not necessarily. Many popes were related to one another as nephews or cousins. Some popes did marry and have children before becoming pope also. Besides which, these were landed, aristocratic dynasties we're talking about. They vied for control of the papacy for centuries, but only one person could be pope at a time (usually). The dynasties still continued.

Starting my new game in a shattered world. random religion, random culture, random everything, save for government which is only nomadic and tribal. The tech is also flat, and the holdings are random. Should be interesting.

Of course I'm a bit worried being right next China because Lord knows the Western Protectorate is OP as fuck.

Personally I avoid playing Tibetan rulers of that religion because it's a pet peeve of mine since Bön is just an extension of Tibetan Buddhism that pretends to be older than what it is. Rather than a separate religion which competes for the heart of Tibet in the medieval period. But PDX threw out a desire for historical accuracy a long time ago.

Bruh they threw it out of CKII the minute the game came out. Zikri exists as a Sunni heresy from the beginning even though it's founder wasn't even born until 1443. He wouldn't found Zikrism until 1496 either, which is 43 years after the game ends. It was therefor never historically accurate.

I watched Many a True Nerds live stream from the paradox multiplayer event in Imperator Rome, was a good show.

Especially when he got near 400k Egyptian men killed towards the end of the third part trying to capture Rome for bragging rights.

I just spent, like, two full hours preparing to invade the L-Cluster only to end up getting the one option that doesn't involve catastrophic slaughter. On the other hand, I have a friendly Titan class sapient warship working for me now, so it all buffs out.

4 o'clock GMT then which from memory is Paradox's usual release timing, so seems accurate enough.

Won't be buying it until a bit after release as I sadly have RL work that having it will distract me from.

No money for u. I wanted to play as a comfy Greek-City state, but instead, I get Alexander the Controversial.
