My effort to start a game in Norway, with a different Norse reformation setup doesn't actually change as much as I'd hoped it would. Just feels like any other Swedish start. Think I'm going to resurrect my old Romuva Lietuva game, I'm glad I kept a savefile pre-reformation so I can play with new stuff.

If you want a change of pace while sticking with the Norse, you could always start out on Iceland.

It would not have been too bad if my navy could stop the reinforcement tides of Italians.

They couldnt, because i ran out of fuel and couldnt produce enough to get my fleets back into action properly : (

The only good Wendish Empire is a Slavic Wendish Empire. Anything less is an abomination of the highest order.

Ever since I won a Great Conquest for Syria, the Abbasids have never been the same - stuck with 10k less than whatever my standing army is at the time, always, no exceptions. Now every time I steal a Duchy from them they fall into civil war, which is really fun to exploit at their expense.

Also, the Holy Roman Emperor shot himself in the foot and created the title "Empire of Germania"; naturally his saw to it that the two imperial titles split his entire territory into two ugly blobs as they went to different characters. But even funnier is now both titles are under the control of two separate dynasties. Originally they both belonged to the Nibelungings, but now HRE is in Karling hands and Germania is in Babenberger hands.

Also, I'm on my sixth martial-oriented Emperor and this guy reminds me a lot of my first one (in that he isn't getting fucked up every time he leads armies). I'm currently waging war for Syrte against the Abbasid Revolt the popped up after I took Galilee and once finished I plan to launch a Great Conquest for Italy and take it from the HRE; paying tribute to Belisarius as I do so.

I've also taken Rome from the Pope, because I could, and I control all of Al-Jazira/Assyria. Eat your heart out, Justinian.

Shoutout to France in my Dutch Communist ironman run.

Fuckers have lost 670k soldiers and killed 1.8 million Germans and 3.9 Million Italians.

Its 1943 and the Allies (with my help and some soviet forces) still control the northern half of France and even pushed as a far as central germany for a while until it got reversed to a massive surge of Axis reinforcements. Around the same time the Axis finally broke through the South French Border, and we almost had them in check then fucking Spain joined and through a right spanner in the works. Ive been throwing one of my armies across france for the better part of a year now helping push back Axis armies but im running out of manpower so that wont continue for much longer.

My army, having lost 777k men, has killed 455k Germans, 200k Italians and about 75k other Axis Soldiers including about 47k Yugoslavians.


Also secondary shoutout to Greece for killing 379k Italians.

So Elder Kings has updated and is compatible with the latest DLC. One thing I hate about these total conversion mods is that they don't work with or disable Sketchy's Cheat Menu and ruler designer unlocked which just makes the game very inconvenient.

Like the new government in exiles thing they have going on. Had some polish divisions pop up in Britain after Poland capitulated and have a bunch of options to take control of the navy, arm new units, purge spies etc

Oh apparently my shift key decided to get stuck and make me look like a fucking moron, ignore my last post.

this system is still fucking clunky actually, its still assigning all the same fucking orders to the same places, and i cant unselect a region for one type of order, it just scraps them for all orders. Getting hard to like this expansion when the main system for it is a pain in the fucking ass.

Quill has a quick little overview in the start of his Man the Guns playthrough that helped me understand it better if you still need it. About 0:14 - 1:45

This could only happen due to deity player intervention.

Every AI Italy I've seen wastes half their manpower on Ethiopia and then loses every other war without German help.

Italy is AI in my one. They have lost an absolute fuck ton of soldiers though, pretty much equal to german losses.

I did try invading Italy as Britain in my first game, but I jumped the gun and didn't have the troops to mount a proper invasion so they ended up pushing me off the continent. I held Sicily for some time, but I ended up running low on supply and eventually got overrun.

Gonna try again tonight with a bit more prep and a better understanding of the ship mechanics.

Completed the Treading the Narrow Path achievement as the Netherlands:

Do not cave to the Germans
Continue the Zuiderzee works
Do not lose any continental states until 1945

Now im just left with this sluggish stalemate mess of a war

We launched a counter attack into France (me and the Allies that is) and captured Paris again, trying to slowly drive the Axis out of france and cut off the spanish, but the USSR is taking some serious hits, about 50% towards capitulation and the Germans are at Moscow.

Bit confused by the 30 minutes of Hel achievement, it says to inflict 1.8 million casualties on Germany as Poland in the 1939 start scenario, but you cant get achievements in that scenario?

I assume it will get patched some point.
