I mean, they where bullshit in real life so yeah, I think. TBH I never really cared about troop composition in CK2, too focused on politicing and using my dynasties women as pawns in a 4D chess game to get what I want than to actually declare war on everyone who owns stuff I want.

I only care about troop composition when making retinues, and even then it's not nearly as important as army size or commander skill.
From personal experience, anyways.

Speaking of 4D chess, I'm currently in a chess game with Portugal, England, and Ireland. My goal is to completely conquer Francia, Hispania, and Britannia.

I married one of my kinsmen to the Queen of Portugal and Galicia and two to claimants of England and Ireland.
I was able to vassalize Andalusia in an easy claim war, but now I'm waiting for my marriages to pay off. It'll be so freakin' blue, man.

Yeah, troop composition isn't the most important thing. During my Israel game, I won wars with just doomstacks of light infantry. I do prefer light cavalry masses though, ever since my Polish/Wendish game where I beat the Mongols with my hordes of hussars. There's nothing quite like beating the Mongols with cavalry.

To bad it was too early for Winged Hussars to be a thing.

Your historical facts have no power here.

First guy is simple: He's the most bad-ass Pope I've ever seen. This is a man who's seen some serious shit. I think he threw out the Jews from his lands by hand. His one hand.

Second guy is one of the biggest surprises I've had when it comes to a character within my dynasty. I personally named this guy to reflect how upset I was with his genetics. And yet, he's turned out to be the most productive steward I've had in a long time. Sure, it's down to RNG, but in the role-play sense, this guy is an idiot savant.

Now this last guy . . . I hate him. He enraged me. That haircut is the worst thing on the planet. I killed him with a vengeance. Anybody and everybody with this haircut needs to die.

Even though it's the 20th of November I already am having trouble waiting... I keep starting up Stellaris and not playing it because it doesn't have the MegaCorp features or the upcoming update.

The balance between keeping Christendom alive enough that crusades activate, and crushing them, is a lot easier than keeping Islam alive. I constantly failed prior to holy fury to keep Islam alive long enough for Crusades to activate.

Speaking of, the Pope was teasing me with crusade notifications, only to dip below the moral authority needed to call one due to one of my vassal's Holy Warring. At least, that's what I think happened, the notification came and went for a while.

Soooo the new Imperial government that Byzantium has confuses the hell out of me.
I gave up and started playing as King Guy of Jerusalem in the Third Crusades bookmark.

The new electoral succession? It's just like getting Councilors to vote your way, you might want to bribe them when you get up there in age to make sure your designated heir gets the stuff. Major downsides are that you can't usurp kingdom and imperial titles for some reason, which is annoying. Though I do think having the Romans and Byzantines have this succession is more realistic and grounded.

It means you need to carefully select your marshal and commanders instead of your whole council really.
And the part of not being able to usurp kingdom and empire level titles makes sense, because "we are Rome and nothing is as good as us".

So this is a new one. I captured the son and heir of the Ummayad emperor. Being raised and "educated" in my jail cell, he turned Norse. And then his father died. Suddenly, there was potential to have a powerful ally against Christianity. As you can see, I released him and he's done amazing work ever since, converting his subjects to the Germanic faith.

Catholicism had a difficult time in the first two centuries, but they really turned things around when the Ummayads somehow turned into a Catholic power and Francia managed to form out of the smouldering rubble of Charelemagne's legacy. They've been a serious threat and two crusades were waged against me, our survival was due to the expert marines that landed in Papal territories and stormed every fort in the region as fast as possible (that preparation phase for Crusades is quite handy to make sure you're in position to fuck over the Pope). How the tides have turned since then: installing a Germanic onto the Hispanic throne, a Great Holy War for Britain, and the subjugation of the Kingdom of France. An empire and two kingdoms fallen to Germanics within a mere span of a few decades. We are legion. Our time in the sun has come.

Golden Century, the EUIV immersion pack, is going to be released on Huskar's birthday. It's weird that their official name drop comes after they've already had ALL of its major feature dev diaries.

PSA: As UMN discovered arming your hordes of Californians with 9mm pistols when you're fighting the American government which has power armor, Vertibirds and Tesla weapons is a bad idea.
