So I'm playing a 867(?) start game. Started as Engelschalk Wilhelmiden, count of Eppenstein, enlarged my realm to hold all of the duchies of Styria and Austria. During the Crusade (started in 900), put a bastard of the dyansty (also named Engelschalk) on the throne of Jerusalem and started playing as him. Changed his dynasty into "of Acre". Took the Kingdom of Syria on the second Crusade (which may or may not have made the Pope a bit mad). Plan is taking Egypt too, then forming "Empire of the Levant".

Just make the Kemetic Empire.

Also, I managed to make my kinslaying, bastard-bearing previous king who managed to singlehandedly make the Christians lose the Reconquest of Aragon by charging into the battle unannounced, losing most of his forces, and giving the Umayyads the 100% they needed to block the reconquest into a Saint.

1081 start date is broken I think. Pope will only call a crusade for Egypt and you can't set Jerusalem as a target if you try to change it manually.

They look pretty good.
I've always had trouble reading and understanding what symbols represented which traits in CK2 at a glance. Some are obvious, but others I have to sit there and tool tip a bunch.

I don't like the hard limit of three personality traits and I'm not a fan of adding another mana-like element as another layer to prestige/piety

The personality trait limit especially feels like a downgrade

They should have three 'major' traits and unlimited 'minor' traits, where the majors give bigger bonuses/penalties since they're bigger aspects of the personality of the character. Also lets them do stuff with trait effects on AI behavior like in EUIV.

It's not really mana, it's not 'spent' as far as I can tell, it's more like thresholds that unlock certain things once you have enough prestige/piety.

Honestly, they should roll more dlc into the base game because EU4 has a metric fuck ton of them. And i get being annoyed if it fucks over your mods etc but if you get mad over the women part?

See. It's one thing to say that women weren't too common in the past due to sexism and conservatism.

But it's not like they didn't exist at all in positions of power, ffs.

They were rare, not extinct, people.

It makes perfect sense it's part of the base game now, and the mod authors are just going to have to adjust, same way they adjust to literally any other update.

. These levels range between 0-5, with 0 representing disgrace. Instead of only losing prestige when doing truly dishonorable things, such as breaking a truce, you now also lose Levels of Fame, making the whole thing more of a hard choice. Accumulated prestige and piety can be used for various things as a currency, just like in CK2, prestige being used for vassal interactions, decisions, and war, while piety is the primary resource used when interacting with the church.

Keep your shitty stability system out of CK.

One of the things that put me off of EU4 was the mana system. I can use the same abstract points to figure out how to stand in a square, as well as tell my troops to march faster. Never sat right with me.

I guess I'm done with gaming for the day actually, I can actually come back to this and inform you properly. What you want to do is knock the ball out of the second pressure plate so that the platform comes back down. You need to push the ball back onto its pedestal and make sure you'd on that platform when the ball gets back in. You can't just get onto the platform by sprinting, by the way, you gotta be clever and use Force Slow on the ball so it doesn't fall back onto its pressure plate too quickly. The chest is immediately in front of you once you're up there. Beware the ice slide back down, though, those things are slippery.

Anyway, the HoI4 Dev Diary is about fucking intel. I don't owe you an explanation, Mary, go read the thing yourself.
