The release of Imperator: Rome was unexpected, unfortunate. But, there is no need to panic. In truth, this is a time to rejoice. A moment that all the Paradox community should savor.

(raises Not Victoria III)

For the Sacred Icon has been found. With it, our path is clear, our entry into the Divine Victorian Beyond guaranteed! The Great Journey is nigh.. ...and nothing, not even the Johan, can stop it.

You speak wisely, Huskar, Prophet of Restraint.

This game may not be Victoria III, but Victoria III shall come to us one day, as promised in the sacred scriptures. Imperator Rome is the John the Baptist of the Christ we are to see.

Victoria 3 died for our games.

I think I'm done with Stellaris again. I fucking hate the diplomacy in this game. I've seen too many fanatic materialists ally with fanatic spiritualists. Like . . . I don't care about political circumstances, this doesn't feel like a thing that should ever happen. And then there's alliances and rivalries being made between empires literally on the other side of the galaxy. For no reason at all. No wormholes, no gateways, nothing. That's what officially broke me.

And none of this generic complaining can even compare to this, from a day or so ago: Here's me. Here's the other guy. Both materialist. He's xenophile. No opposing governments or policy issues. Positive opinion. Literally doesn't know anybody else but me . . . yeah, all of this justifies an Unfriendly attitude. I already cheat pretty hard in this game to get out of wars that get declared on me, so after about 30 seconds later, when the motherfuckers rivaled me, my lid officially fucking flipped.

This game is devastating to my brain. I love the exploration and expansion phase to death, and I really enjoy the 2.2 economic system. The act of simply creating an empire is probably the most intensely satisfying thing, especially with all of the mods I've installed. All of that manages to keep me playing somehow. But basically everything else in the game can be shot into the sun. Here's to hoping the inevitable great diplomatic rework revolutionizes the game so I can enjoy it.

I don't know, both King in Prussia and the Great Peasant War seem to be interesting. Especially the latter, it might open a lot of opportunities.

In the meantime, I find Tom's Fed mod on the workshop fixes those issues.

I think my favorite armored car design is the Japanese pair, strip the guns away and they could actually pass as common cars.

Thats kinda what they did honestly. To be honest. Japanese armor was worse than Italian armor.

Despite the memes their tanks including the Ha-Go were decent to good. Obviously the USSR and US had better thanks but the Ha-Go wasn't bad like the memes say. Sure it wasn't fantastic but its light weight did give it an advantage over the Sherman on the island campaigns where it didn't need the same support to maneuver.

The italians had like one good tank but by the time it was produced it was really only ever used by the german occupation.

Stellaris just dropped a surprise 2.4 patch. It's primary purpose is to update the launcher to the new PDS standard, but it's still got a fair bit of the standard bug fixes and balance stuff too.

I'm just mildly irritated that I'll have to wait a few days for my necessary mods to get updated.

Since the "dev diary" for Stellaris today is literally just the PDXCon schedule for Stellaris-specific things, I think I'll do one better and give this thread the FULL schedule. 10:00 German time is going to be the time to tune in, if you're going to tune in to Twitch at all.

If my timezone math is right, that means the new game announcement is 5pm CDT on the 19th, with the Stellaris announcement at 1am CDT on the 20th, followed by a Stellaris Q&A session at 7pm on the 20th.

So I'm trying to just have a nice, relaxing game of Stellaris as a xenophobic empire with the intention of having a nice empire-building experience with no obligation to participate in the insufferable diplomatic side of the game. I have but one condition: Do not give me the boring precursors, the Irassians, Yuht and Vultaum.

. . .

3 hours later, I never once roll one of acceptable precursors. This is the worst game ever made. The battle to enjoy this game is eternal and unrelenting. I will not capitulate. The game will not capitulate. This duel will continue until the death of the universe.

DRRJake is leaving the EUIV team. It's basically impossible to suppress the fact that I'm overjoyed at this news. Hopefully, this spells an end to the decline of EUIV.

I haven't really paid attention to how he's done work wise, but I have enjoyed his streams from time to time.
What is it you didn't like about his design direction? If you don't mind me asking.

Put simply, literally every project that he's worked on has been criticized for one reason or another. Over time, I began to see the merits of the criticisms being made. Overall, there's been a general decline in the attention to historicity. And a rise in mechanics that you would expect to see from somebody whose only concern is rampant world conquest and exploiting systems to make it happen.

That seems like a fair criticism. And it's consistent with his stream personality I guess.
