Shenanigans allow you to be emperor of china, switch to Christian, keep the title, and then become Emperor.

This is most "Natural" as Japan. Quickly unite Japan and steal the mandate of heaven before the Kirishitan events, then use them to switch to catholic. Otberwise it requires purposefully spawning religious rebels and letting them win.

Game start you'll spawn a 30 year incident.

1445ish to 1475 will be handling Neo-Confucianism/Wokou pirates.

1475 to 1505 will be Neo-Confucian/Wokou/Nanban

1505 to 1535 will be Neo-Confucian/Wokou/Nanban/Firearms

(1510, age of discovery ends.).

1535-1565 Is the first time the Christian events might fire, but you've got a few other possibilities. (One of the former scenarios wouldn't have fired yet, and there's also Ikko Ikki.).

If you can be emperor of china by 1535, it's very doable.

If the Christian events fire after one of the former events, and after Ikko Ikki, that's

1535-1565, and 1565-1595

So if you're lucky, you have until 1595 to become emperor of china.

If you're extremely lucky you might have until 1625 if the Powerful Shogun events fire, (But they rely on AI behavior, so I wouldn't count on it) which then unlocks the global trade institution, potentially pushing it back to 1655.

So at the absolute latest, you have until 1655 to become emperor of china as Japan and still have the option to become Christian. At the earliest, you must be emperor by 1535.

That seems very doable to me, since you should have united Japan and be beating China in wars by then, and it only takes on war to steal the mandate.

Seriously? If that's their reasoning they should've just locked the ai out from doing that instead. Because players who care about historical accuracy aren't going to use it anyway, and those who don't care about historical accuracy, don't care about historical accuracy.

Well I did it. You know how in the latest patches the Soviet Union was nerfed to heck so that now they always lose vs the Axis in a strait fight?
Well, that gave me an idea. What if instead of fighting fair I was to build the Soviet Maginot line. Yea.... Took some work but I did it. The entire borders of the Soviet Union all in level 10 forts and level 5 AA by the time the Germans invaded. It got boring after that though as they just sat there on my border outnumbering me 3 to 1 but not attacking.

Still, was planning a restart anyway. Take notice; You will not be able to take your first mission that gives claims (And thus -25% core costs) if you are Mings tributary, so fire it off at once and don't wait for the horde unity to be more needed.

You CAN wait to fire off the second mission until you've annexed all korchin and oirat lands though if you intend on taking the "We're all mongols" choice to convert them.

Also;

I recommend you make a beeline for Haixi and Jianzhou after getting your freedom, annex, core, and statify them in order to embrace feudalism. Having one institution grabbed without forced development is pretty great.

If you're going Mongolia -> Yuan -> Khan, you'll have two free capital moves.

Two institutions can be forced in the original capital before diminishing returns, one forced in Beijing as Yuan, and two forced in Qara Qorum as the Mongol Empire.

Global Trade and Manufactories you might not feel like forcing and might be able to spawn naturally, so you'll actually have a free slot there, more than enough to force spawn the institutions purely through capital development.

It probably caused by "You gobbled too many provinces with high development + separate peace deal + Leftovers uncored provinces"
Anyway next time when doing peace deal, you should calculate your overextension more carefully. But since you formed Mongol Empire (I bet it is mid-late game) it is easier to whack the separatists (Great Mongol State + High Absolutism + Administrative + Humanist Ideas).

Crisis of the Ming Dynasty is not fun. Do you like peasant rebels? Since it gives you events that give you peasant rebels while you have peasant rebels given by the exact same event but in a different province and the only way to stop the crisis is by getting mandate which is most quickly acquired by picking the option that spawns more peasant rebels while you already try to play whack-a-mole with the five stacks that exist already.
