PDOX Games VIII: Communism Will Win

For real if only Paradox's love of alt history in HOI4 was applied to VIC2 and other games. The Ottomans could have gotten a series of options to stabilize their empire without mass slaughter or exploiting mechanics that never got balanced because paradox gave up on this game way to fast.

IMO they get a lot of mixed messages from the fanbase.

"Make it more alt-history tho"

That might seem like simple enough things to do, have a realistic game then add alt-history shit to it but you have to take into account their corporate bureaucracy.

Now I'm curious as to which of their games is the best-selling.

Also, what the fuck is Magicka.

Its a game from the 4 player coop era. Pretty funny, pretty neat. You plug in magic combinations to get spells. IE, Water and snow make ice, water and lightning makes lightning water. I don’t think its going to be getting a sequel anytime soon. (Since 4 player coop has slowly been dying over the years, thanks to developers.)

The key to making good alt history is to make it plausible and realistic. Like for example what if the Communists had won in Germany in the 30's instead of the Nazis. Or what if Trotsky got control of the SSSR instead of Stalin. These things could legitimately have happened. And this is why they make a compelling narrative to explore. Far more interesting than the very odd and unlikely scenario of Communism rising in 30's Japan.

Honestly hoping Paradox takes the negative reviews to heart and puts some haste into fixes. This game isn't just mixed reviews, there are more negative reviews than positive ones. Thankfully I learned to never get a paradox game early ever again.

That's ironic. Nine times out of ten that I clash with Russians, I'm playing Prussia. They normally ally with France, which makes it difficult to contain them once I've taken Alsace-Lorraine and they've gone to the "declare war on Germany every time you're not in a truce with". I swear one time I annexed all the way to Saint Petersburg and Paris between 1880 and 1936.

My experience with Imperator so far has been rather meh. I'm sure they'll expand it over time, but it would've been nice to have gotten a full game at release. I have a feeling that Paradox has become complacent like Bethesda in regard to its bugs and lack of content because of the modding community which sustains their games. The biggest disappointment to me is that map editor always seems to freeze my computer, since that was one of the main reasons I bought the game.
