The Only I:R video I've watched and while the game looks good it shows the EU4 stank with the lack of depth.

This is the main reason I don't want to buy it. I'm not convinced it will be anything more than an EU4 mod... but in Rome.

I think all of the Paradox Map Games are mods of each other, basically

There are similarities, they're all strategy games made by the same company after all, there's going to be reused ideas, but there are a load of differences between Crusader Kings 2, Hearts of Iron 3, and Europa Universalis 4, while there are much less between EU4 and Imperator. If I:R adds some character mechanics to the game, that would mark it out from EU4, although I'm pretty sure people have been saying that the latter should've had that for years (royal marriages feel confusing otherwise).

Well, not really, but Sketchy's Cheat Mod let's you control every living character in the game and a bunch of other neat stuff which you can use either for your benefit or to just alter history to your liking. You can't do everything with it but you can pretty much do all you really need to.

However, after 60 years of constant war, France trying to take away my cores, Austria trying to bully me, releasing a few nations to keep my infamy down, the fucking Dutch slandering me, and the Russians looming threateningly over me, GERMANY STRONK at second place. Unfortunately, now all of these bums owe me money. Literally, I'm more or less bankrolling everybody else because I'm the single biggest creditor nation in the world.

My current issue is keeping everybody else in their place and therefore from ganging up on me. Austria-Hungary did propose to join me but I had to turn them down because it would have been over my infamy limit, so I figure I'll have to keep sniping turf from them.

I honestly don't know where to go from here except MAYBE creep into first place by bullying the other great powers, which sucks, cuz I would have liked to have some wacky colonies. German Japan, anybody XD

I have some West African colonial land but sadly France keeps beating me in the colonial races. I managed to steal Algiers from them but that didn't seem to affect them very much.

Any tips? I was thinking maybe using the fact that these guys all owe me money somehow to my advantage but I'm not sure how I'd go about doing that.

Also, the liberals keep shrinking my military score so I get the feeling it's time to bring the Conservatives back -_-

He gets elected, only to be usurped by a woman with a claim on the title, only to then be reelected when she gets killed, only to then be usurped by another woman with a claim on the title, only to then be reelected again when she dies. Ever since Paradox made the 'Imperial Administration' government type it enforces this idiotic elective system where anybody on the Council or with the Commander title gets to vote on who becomes the next Emperor of Rome/Byzantium. It's ahistorical at this point in time, but there's nothing I can do about it unfortunately. I fucking hate it and all it does is make Byzantium even more unstable than it already was; which was too fucking much to begin with.

So I just realized I've never played Tibetan or Bön characters since Tibet became available, which is odd because I've played pretty much everywhere and everything. I think I'll give them a try after my current game finishes; see if I can't rule Tibet as a Bön and then reform the faith into... something. Of course I'm a bit worried being right next China because Lord knows the Western Protectorate is OP as fuck.

Personally I avoid playing Tibetan rulers of that religion because it's a pet peeve of mine since Bön is just an extension of Tibetan Buddhism that pretends to be older than what it is. Rather than a separate religion which competes for the heart of Tibet in the medieval period. But PDX threw out a desire for historical accuracy a long time ago.

So one of my favorite thing to do as Haesteinn of Retz is invade the Umayyads and go full "suprise motherfucker" and "a new challeneger appraches" except this time I get a game over because my heirless son died for reasons unknown (probably something bullshit like stress or "poor health) the weird thing is the game didn't pause on the game over screen, and then proceeded to hit a save point after I died.

Game's gone forever now and I have to invade Iberia all over again. Gah.

The states make a lot more sense than they did in Vanilla VicII, though the timing of events is a bit iffy. I formed German Empire in 1853, while the option for Brother's War shouldn't logically appear until 1860s.
