It does kind of annoy me that I:R is going to be continuing the historical misconception that Bön was the pre-Buddhist religion of Tibet, and I'm salty that there's no opportunity to unite all of India under the Carvaka philosophy and invade Rome. Though this is probably what mods exist for.

There's not many Western sources on it, but Bön is basically a form of Tibetan Buddhism that mixes various Tibetan cultural elements with Buddhist teachings. It has its own revealed scriptures and mythological figures, but these come hundreds of years after Tibet became Buddhist and it relies on Buddhist religious concepts like Dzogchen.

CKII just pulled some serious bullshit that enraged me so much that in my blind rage I actually forgot what it was that pissed me off.

Oh yeah, now I remember. It's that stupid thing where one army with other armies attached to it can take their allies' troops into battle against you even if they're not part of the same war as you. It's fucking bullshit. I mean it makes sense realistically, but from a gameplay perspective it's fucking bullshit.

I josh. The trick to being careful with that is being careful with your military and careful with your wars. If I can, I try to centralize and consolidate my power as much as I can, especially if I have a lot of annoying shitty vassals that have land I can handle. The early game for me is usually fighting my own vassals for control of my realm. "I'm the fucking boss and don't y'all forget it", essentially. Once you have consolidated power, you have to remember to occasionally ensure you keep it. There's a vassal that's getting too powerful? He's probably plotting, so throw his ass in jail and keep him there for as long as you can. Vassals plotting against you? Pitch them against each other and take out the most powerful ones while lavishing the backstabbing fuckers with land and money; they're loyal to that, not so much to just you.

Also, never go to war without either a lot of money or a lot of troops, even against smaller countries. Can't tell you how many times I think I've won a war and this shitty county pulls some mercenaries out of their ass and SOMEHOW repel my army, costing me precious warscore and troop numbers. If the enemy is weak, attack. If the enemy is strong, defend. Unfortunately, the fights themselves are kinda RNG I've noticed. Can't tell you how many times my 24 Martial commander and his 12 and 11 buddies lose against three level 4s because SOMEHOW my larger army lost all of their morale because one of the allegedly competent commanders was forced to retreat.

And of course, if you're outnumbered and outgunned, swear fealty and plot from the inside. Kiss ass and shake hands while you YEET some counties, and before you know it, you're King for no reason. :D

Well I mean, not for NO reason. Probably because I had the King's heir suffocated in his crib and thus became his heir. Had a 90 opinion point of me too.

Okay so I'm having this really weird and annoying glitch in my latest Zoroastrian playthrough. For some reason I keep getting this same event where my daughter/son throws a hissy fit about not liking who they married, which in this case would be their brother/sister. Your only options are to either annul the marriage or tell them to deal with it risk one of them being angry and the other hating you, while there's a 33% chance they'll either take on a secret lover or become celibate. Suffice to say I won't bow to the whims of angsty teenagers so option 1 is out of the question, plus I refuse to pass up the free Piety from a Xwedodah marriage.

But now almost half my daughters are celibate and it's starting to piss me off. I have literally never encountered this event before this game, and I've had this game for at least 2-3 years now. Now it won't stop firing and I have no idea why but it's starting to piss me off.

So I am not the only one...
In fact, that event fired when I was playing the character throwing the hissy fit in question...

Modding a paradox from what I have heard is pretty easy, I am sure you can find tutorials or documentation for it.

Any suggestions on improving this set up for a "Suffer not the alien" run? How do you deal with unemployment by the way, will building upgrades eventually make it a non issue? If unused pops are a thing at end-game I can drop Byzantine and take up Environmentalist instead or something.

Though at end game if I shifted the trade network toward consumer goods it might be better to drop conservationist and byzantine altogether and go for something else. =/

I don't have Stellaris so I have no idea what you're talking about when you say "Byzantine" but I keep imagining the Byzantine Empire in space and, I gotta say, it brings a smile to my face.
