It had potential but... the lore behind Fuhrerreich changed a bit and- well- eh... I couldn't get over Churchill being the author. Not only that but- ehm.... the alternate history isn't as solid as Kaiserriechs. Yeah Kaiserriech has some questionable events- like the British Red Revolution- but- it's so well put together that I can can forgive it. Fuhrerreich has a bit to go before I feel it's satisfactory. But even the developers recognize this critique, mentioning it in their article on the book series as a nod to real world complaints about the direction.

well while you're waiting for december 20th, i may suggest The Reaper's Due and Way of Life.

The Old Gods and Way of Life.
I don't have Charlemagne so I can't speak for that, but ToG's 867 start date is the one I play on the most, by far.
Meanwhile, WoL's focuses are just really fun.

Reaper's Due, Way of Life, Old Gods. Got it. Which DLC expands the map? Or is that included in the Holy Fury DLC?

Rajas of India adds india, but it's unlikely you'll be going down there anytime soon.
oh, yes, you should also get Swords of Islam, Sons of Abraham, and Ruler Designer.
SoI and SoA allow you to play as Islamic rulers and Jewish rulers, respectively.

No DLC expands the map, some just allow you to play as certain religions. Sword of Islam lets you play as Muslims, Rajas lets you play as Indian religions (Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism), ToG lets you play as pagans, etcetera, etcetera. So you could theoretically have a Christian kingdom in India without RoI, but that would be difficult for many reasons.

Oooooooh good to know.

So, priority: Holy Fury, Reaper's Due, Way of Life, Old Gods,

Not so priority: Sons of Abraham, Sword of Islam, Rajas of India, Ruler Designer (what even is ruler designer?)

The ruler designer lets you start as a custom ruler/dynasty. It's not particularly important, but building a dynasty of a dozen empires and thousands of characters from the loins of Domenico Ghirardelli is always fun.

You can design your own heredity and choose your starting traits and name. But it's still rather limited and not very helpful. Great for roleplaying but- you don't choose your wife or children's traits or names and start with no alliances in place- no family ties to rely on.

I used it to create a Jewish Patrician in Venice... I was much despised.

Depends on what you mean by expand the map.

There are none that expand it beyond Western Eurasia/North Africa/India, but there are several that add new provinces and de jure realms. Holy Fury, Horse Lords, and Rajas all do so I believe.

I've actually avoided Rajas because, beyond not being particularly interested in playing India, I've heard the proliferation of new provinces and characters to fill them it creates are a big contributor to late game stutter.

Sword of Islam is a priority as it lets you play as more than 20% of the map

Okay, I need to highly recommend the new Ruthless Conglomerate voice coming with Megacorp. After listening to it for a fair bit, it's my new favorite voice.

I've still got to weight 5 more hours for the game. I'll be at work when my pre-order unlocks it but at least it'll be ready for installation when I get back from work today. I'll be able to check it out along with other voices when I do get to play it.
