It's not a threshold but the higher the moral authority of catholicism, the less likely heresies would pop up. Controlling Holy Sites and deus vulting in Holy Wars and Crusades helps with that.

But Catharism is the best religion in the game.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

Can I also just say that the reworks to the electoral succession type are fantastic? They actually pick competent rulers and it's much easier to get them to vote the way I want them to.

Honestly it's beautiful.

The idea that a Hellenic Roman person named de Alexandros could possibly be related to Alexander the Great is absurd.

You're right, a Norse Germanic related to Alexander the Great makes infinitely more sense.

My character wasn't made a saint for mending the schism and didn't get a bloodline for it either. My next character didn't get a bloodline for restoring the Roman Empire, nor one for bringing back and reforming Hellenism. I suffered through that barbaric Byzantine inheritance system for nothing. :(

Seems like you should get bloodlines for all of the actions - especially reforming any religion.

I was the top contributer in the Fourth Crusade event and good friends with the Pope. I opted to play as the Latin Emperor Acfred over the direct line I was playing, his grandson (iirc) went insane and converted to Hellenism and Greek culture, reforming the faith and restoring Byzantium through decision. Luckily enough I had a countess of Thrace through sheer happenstance.

I also have the restorer bloodline. Unfortunately, since the Restorer of Rome is my current character (a woman) it's matrilineal which means I'll probably lose it sooner than later since the Alexander blood is more useful and patrilineal.

Also, for the record I started as House of Toulouse from the Viking Age, I renamed the dynasty after I got the Alexander event.

The Fylkir versus the Pope. What a match-up. I can't believe I didn't think to do this sooner. I think I'm just going to go on a Pope killing spree and see how many I can take out in one lifetime.

Also I find it immensely ironic that two of my distant kinsmen became Popes as I, the evil Empress of a heretical Rome continue to undermine Christianity.

Also, I fought my first "Alexander" this past session. He spawned right up next to historical Swiss territory and swiftly managed to conquer himself a good amount of territory, finally grabbing my attention when he seized Aquitaine from my French Germanic realm. I immediately recognized the threat and raised the entire realm in preparation to go help Austrasia before he even declared on them. Actual toughest fight I've had so far in this campaign. Those guys get absurd combat bonuses, but that just meant we were on an even playing field. And after I put the bastard in his place, I Great Holy Warred Aquitaine in retaliation.

The threat ended completely when a second Alexander, who had become an adventurer, came along and took him down.
