When I first saw the Trailer I was mildly annoyed by the lack of realism but now that I have read up more on it, I am actually quite excited. what do you guys think?

When I first saw the trailer I thought "wow, that's unusual. A post-apocalyptic Mad Max-esque setting? They even got the lady with the badass arm prosthesis and the barbarian war paint and everything". It took me about 2 minutes into the trailer, when the Messerschmidts flying at an altitude of three meters above ground or so showed up, to realize that this is supposed to be set in WW2.
The close range V1s were just the icing on the cake.

Doesn't this belong in Arts & Fiction?

If they're gonna do a multiple stories kind of campaign I'd like to play as a Wehrmacht soldier or any soldier from the ''bad'' side for once, but of course that's probably not gonna happen in this age of SJWs.

If I made it, I'd let you. Granted, you'd have to contend with war cross instead of swastikas, but it's better than nothing.

As a historian that focuses on German history, WWI, and WWII, I died inside. As someone who has loved Battlefield since 1942, I died. Sure it had beautiful graphics and the vehicle choices were amazing, but when they added the Fortnite mechanic and the customisation it just ended my excitement. Then they showed that squad, and it was like I was looking at something from CoD. What happened to the great days of 1942? Now I have to stick with Forgotten Hope 2, because at least that is still back when things were good.

Is the woman with a prosthetic arm a character that the player can create?

I can understand the game trying to be inclusive, but at this time I do not know if Battlefield is trying to be a sandbox battle simulator, or a realistic simulation of World War II.

Disability and women’s rights wasn't taken seriously during the time of World War II, even though women were producing aircraft parts at Gants Hill station as part of the home front (source).

I believe Dice is open things to more sandbox style than realism. They need to balance the two though.

Like i said in the actual gaming thread, I'd prefer it if the trailer had more gameplay, and that it was less staged too.
Personally, I really don't give two shits about that woman with the prosthetic hand; it's completely inconsequential to me - I'll judge the game by its actual gameplay (which is lacking right now). I reckon we'll see more at EA Play and I'll probably have an opinion on that.

It looks like they're trying to appeal to the brainlet battle royale crowd or something. Hard pass.

Same. Nobody had female soldiers in their military and certainly no one with prosthetic limbs. The only nation that placed women on the front lines were the Soviets and even that was a rare sight on the Eastern Front.

The customization would be cool if they got rid of the stupid stuff, Like blue facepaint, bomber jackets for infantrymen and women with prosthetic arms.

I literally agree with this.

In addition, this game is an attempt to attract people from Fortnite, which I have never play personally but, like the new COD, this will either be successful or backfire, especially if game types like Fortnite die out.

Not gonna lie, I'm gonna take a fair bit of enjoyment in killing people playing as Nazis as a Boudicca-looking chick with a prosthetic and a cricket bat. It'll piss off the Wehrbs sooo much, it's delightful. :^)

I think I'll wait for a gameplay trailer to make any decisions. That release trailer was god-awful, mostly because of pacing and audio, not because of actual content, which for me at least made it hard to view any of the content in a positive light. Someone remade it using nothing new but the audio from the Battlefield 1 trailer and it's about a million times better.

I think some of the design choices are a little weird, but the stuff JackFrags was talking about in his video definitely made it sound worth buying.

A World War Two game brings out the Wehrbs? Who'da thunk.

But think of all the enjoyment to be had in killing players roleplaying as a member of the esteemed praetorian guard of Adolf Hitler himself in their jet black parade uniforms, the 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler!

Wehrbs are some incredibly... spooky things.
