I'd be all for a German/Italian/Japanese story, if it just involved playing a soldier of said country throughout the entire war. Same with being a French or British, or Soviet, soldier all throughout.

Besides, you can have a cool story without it being a preachy moral lesson or political. Modern Warfare was pretty great, and so was Bad Company and Bad Company 2. Gears of War was a great franchise, and it didn't beat players over the head with morality, even if the world and backstory for the COG and Pendulum Wars were grimdark.

Fascist Italian campaign could be a good step then, not so controversial and could have some good action, fighting in North Africa.

Somehow I would have a hard time buying a SP campaign where you, as an Italian, gun down hundreds of Brits or Greeks...when Italian forces performed so infamously poorly at most fronts they were involved.

EDIT: With that being said, I really would like to see some war theatres that have not been realized in FPS format yet...like the aforementioned Albanian Front of 1940 (Italians vs Greeks), the Winter War (Finns vs Soviets), Khalkyn Gol (Japanese vs Soviets), Fall of France (Germans vs French) etc, rather than the umpteenth rendition of D-Day and Stalingrad.

Tis a shame really because I was hoping for something good after BF1.

The use of I think a rocket was also quite silly.

I was also rather confused about that steampunk biker dude who did that creepy serial killer "shush, shush" gesture with his hand. I thought that he was one of your squadmates who had started to act weird all of a sudden. Only when amputee Boudicca bashed his skull in did I realize that he was - apparently - a German soldier.

I believe the V1s were used against infantry. V2s were used for long ranged targets such as France or England.

They were just early cruise missiles, also used against Britain. France had fallen way before then as well. You don’t ever use missiles against infantry. There’s literally zero point. It’s a massive waste of funds and munitions.

Apparently he's a Fallschrimjager, because of the model of goggles on his helmetless head and the oversaturated camo pattern to his uniform.

Although they probably wouldn't have been sporting such goofy goatees.

Ewww, no. That's just bad history right there. Both were used against cities and the like in places like England.

It's not about the women (I know there were women in some fronts, but not all), it's not about the potential inaccuracies (it's a game), it's not about being unrealistic (game's mechanism will have to give you freedom to be unrealistic at times)... The one thing I fear is...

Loot-boxes.

From what I hear about features, it sounds awesome. The Norwegian front is one that could use a few games set in it.

Though the lady with the prosthetic, the katana and the war paint... eh. I think there really is one simple way they could save that one: mercenaries. Say it's an alt-history WW2 where both the UK and the German government were forced to hire a mercenary company to help fight the war. That way you could have absolutely unlimited customisation of your character (something I think tragically few games in the FPS genre do) and all of that silly stuff would be justified.

Firstly, people are already complaining about historical inaccuracy. You think alternate history will fix that?

Second, literally nothing wrong with multiplayer customization being unrealistic.

I think if you explicitly market your game as alt-history, instead of what Dice have actually done in talking at length about being historically accurate, would in fact go a long way to making people complain less. Like how people don't complain much about historical accuracy in Wolfenstein.

I completely agree. If you have full customisation, than I'm damn sure to create the most flamboyantly gay-looking, jewish, pink-haired character possible to take out some Nazis with. (Purely for the lols :p ) I was just thinking about ways in which to get other people onboard.

EDIT: Oh, and my Nazi character better have some Hugo Boss or why bother?

Really, if DICE/EA had just went with the "Yeah it's WWII, but we're not shooting for accuracy" angle or just said "We no chicks and robot arms aren't realistic, but we just wanted to do it for multiplayer" instead of pulling the "Gamers are Sexist and Racist" card, then the whole reveal fiasco wouldn't have been as bad as it was.

Anyways, for the multiplayer gameplay, customization looks dumb. That said, gameplay additions like being able to hitch up and tow artillery and AA looks cool as well. Also, THEY FINALLY HAVE DECENT DESTRUCTION PHYSICS AGAIN, THANK GOD. Bad Co 2 and BF3 had way better destruction than BF4 and BF1, and it baffled the hell out of me. These physics look nice.

Now...it's WWII...I'm looking forward to my Type-100 gunfu.

"Surely it can't be worse than Battlefield 1"

"Yes, yes it can. And is."

Seriously though, I get that in multiplayer you don't really have to give a toss about realism and the like (in these sort of games, looking at you COD), but jesus Christ don't label yourself as "historically accurate" then have Robocop in the trailer.
Pro's: Pan-Europeanism, Corbyn, environmentalism, revolutionary socialism, democratic socialism, Tito, Nyerere, Palestine, LGBTQ rights, equality, that sorta thing.

Well, if the 109 is flying at an altitude of 3 meters like in the trailer, you probably can. :p

1. Not in 44. Fritz had already started replacing his 7.92 mm MGs in fighters with larger artillery (like the MG 131), by 1940, because it was apparent that it was becoming increasingly less effective against armor. To say nothing of a person actually tracking the plane at that close of a range.

2. True.

I literally agree with this.

In addition, this game is an attempt to attract people from Fortnite, which I have never play personally but, like the new COD, this will either be successful or backfire, especially if game types like Fortnite die out.

Well..DICE said B5 will be Fortnite-ish....
