67 MY: Barry's still bedridden with the disease, which has by now taken the majority of the urban population. Most of the city folk leave for Farms, and Agriculture starts dominating the national economy. His regent resigns from office at the sight of failing to deal with the ratpox threat, and a regency council is formed, called Magistrate Of Dominators.

70 MY: Gore Lizmarr's army expeditions returns from the Great Mountains. Their new maps cover around 85% of the range, and identify 4 additional passes for easy access to the other side. In addition, they return with 4 of the men from the expedition they sought out to find, but had lost 3 doing so. They tell stories of weird and wonderful cultures, peoples and animals from these distant, remote lands. Among the many samples of plants they brought back, they bring the velvet-covered fern, a plant soon discovered to have medicinal properties capable of curing the Ratpox. King Barry, on his deathbed, mandates every farmer must allocate 10% of their fields towards growing the new fern while the plague goes on.

73 MY: The attempts to find a cure for Ratpox succeed, the terrible Plague ends with thousands dead, but the disease effectively destroyed. King Barry rises from his bed, ruling for a few months, before he finally loses his life to old age.
(Come on, 73 Years of ruling? even if he was 20 when he started the thing, just after surviving a Plague. maybe we should replace him? soon? I'll let the next guy decide it)

Well, King Barry actually only took the throne in 41 MY and is the son of the first king, who was King Max.

Anyway,

73 MY (continued): A succession dispute takes hold King Barry had 4 children, but all of them were daughters. Tobias, King Barry's brother and third child of king Max (the second son had died of the Ratpox) argued that he should be king seeing as there was no rule allowing women to become monarch. The Magistrate of Dominators, or MOD as it's beginning to be known, is called once again to settle the argument.

In the end, MOD decides that King Barry's eldest daughter, Amelia, should become queen. Queen Amelia I is crowned in Maxland to a modest ceremony, seeing as as many as one fifth of the entire country had perished with the disease just a few years earlier.

74 MY: With the end of the plague, the military stops culling rats, causing their population to grow like, well, rats. Rats and mice begin to repopulate at a faster and faster rate, sometimes causing smaller family subsistence farms to fail. Fortunately, Amelia and her good rulership prevented a famine and saved thousands more.

On a side note, Violetism grows in Maxland at a slow and unnoticeable rate.

75 MY
A line of strategic defensive outposts begin construction along some of the land that Maginot charted, these are unofficially referred to as “The Maginot Line” by workers constructing the defenses.
75 1/2 MY
A minor trader gets lost and goes mad when he discovers “The Holy City” that Maginot once raved about in the last remaining uncharted parts of The Great Mountains. Due to the trader being insignificant, no government search party took place to find him. He continues to loom in the Great Mountains to this day (I’m going to assume this guy will only live for 2 years if nobody finds him. If he’s found within 6 months he might even tell something interesting ;) )

75 3/4 MY: An group of Ernraci miners looking for ores in The Great Mountains comes across a madman wandering the mountain passes with no rhyme or reason. The miners take him to their camp to give him some food, as he is surely starving.

75 3/4 (cont) MY
The man, holding some of his sanity, tell the miners of a village of gods. Creatures that are like man, but animals. He says he took a vow never to reveal the location of the village, as it would surely upset the gods. He says the gods awoke something in him, as he points to nothingness in an empty seat, saying “I see one of the gods there too, he’s quite but hasn’t tried to attack me.”
The miners are unsure how to interpret the man’s last sentence as he could be lying to himself, his insanity creeping in.

OOC: remember that post I made a while ago? Well, the old man is talking about this joke species. Why not introduce them on a lighter note this time around. :p

97-98 MY (happening at the same time but not related or interfering)
While searching for the Holy City, Queen Amelia purposefully gets her convoy lost from a main trail taken by merchants in efforts to find the Holy City, somewhere in the uncharted parts of the Great Mountains.

100 MY: a soldier shouts, and a stir occurs. The Holy City is found! The Queen keeps her distance to avoid infuriating the god creatures that the maddened man talked about. With her small numbers, she and all her soldiers avoid madness and map the location of the city. The City is inhabited by beast creatures that are like man by walking on two legs, but beast which look more animals than man. The most common of these gods are cat based. With the recognizable documentations being Tigers, Clouded Leopards, and Leopard Cats. There are other species but they are much smaller in number and unrecognizeable from a distance.
The Queen and her Envoy prepare a return trip immediately after documenting as much they could from afar to avoid the possibility of madness.

OOC: For whoever RPs next, know that Maginot had a lot of “scribbled” notes from when they found him, in a language unable to be read. Maybe it’s the god’s language and you might want to look into the Maginot Archive ;)
