Barbados now dawns an obscure mask with a large beak and robes, hiding all visible parts of his body, he remains mildly angry at himself since he now will look like one of “the gods” but still must perform his duties to his kingdom. He feels 40 years younger with the transformation nearly completion, but must continue to hide himself behind his new “uniform.” He is now nicknamed “the robed Advisor” amongst the population as many people assumed Barbados died.

Barbados wonders if he should make a return trip to Ulma Vriska to see if they can turn him back or something similar, as while he admires the gods who inhabit it that look like cat-beasts, he simply doesn’t want to be one of them.

213 MY: The humans, who saw the escaping "god" refugees, became scared. They either denied or attacked them "gods". Of course, members of the government were ordered not to attack them, hoping that it will prevent the "gods" from declaring war on them. Meanwhile, the people, who saw the refugees, also invented a new term for those "gods", Furries

A relatively quiet year at first other than the refugee panic. However, some of the...uh...cat folk were very uncomfortable. These were the outlaws, the criminals, the warlords, and they were ready to conquer. Human law enforcement had to fight gangs, syndicates, and entire underworlds the likes of which no one had ever seen.

Another Holy City is reformed in the mountains which goes by the name of the old, this new city remains in uncharted parts of The Great Mountains
Also, because people seem to have forgotten the Great Mountains are near many many nations, the volcanic dust causes the skies to be darkened and a Dark Age to insure that affects all nations near the Great Mountains.

The gods call themselves “The Nekojishi” of Nekojimonia, while other unknown Holy Cities of the country begin to fill up, including the unknown capital of the Nekojishi

210-217 MY:
The member-states of the Federation deteriorate into disarray. The once formidable union is divided between those who would lash out, and those who seek a more peaceful outlook. Lumenöffnen seeks to open their borders and allow free trade among all of the nations. Schönwetter and Vögel seek to imperialise all of the known world until it is under their jurisdiction. The argument ends with the death of Gloria Chalker at the hands of Johann von Strücker, and von Strücker's threat to the heir, Amelia Smith, the daughter of Gloria. Lumenöffnen back down and ultimately leave the Federation. With Lumenöffnen gone, the remaining imperialist powers rename the Federation as the Coalition of Empires. An invitation is extended to Blackacre to join their Coalition.

Meanwhile, the cities situated closest to the eruption evacuate in terror towards the capitals. Lumenöffnen is hit hardest, with four separate cities having to be evacuated, with varying degrees of damage to them, ranging from a couple houses burnt to the entire city destroyed.

Also (OOC) you didn't respond to my statement. 60 million deaths was around the toll of WWI iirc.

210-217 MY:
Maxtopia enters disarray as the volcanic ash and other things destroy the Maginot Line under rubble and ash. The ash darkening the skies is considered as an end of times open and the monarchy is blamed.
Barbados (The Robed Advisor) launches a coup against the Bastard Emperor claiming him as responsible for this madness. With the coup successful, the Bastard Emperor is executed as cause of the end of times and the old empire is reorganized back into Maxtopia, however it is now a Bureaucratic Despotism in which internal affairs are chosen by government officials, including who shall lead the country.
With Barbados’s assertion, he is renamed by the public “The Robed Leader” and begins welcoming some Nekojishi refugees into Maxtopia, including some into his court. It also becomes law that while ruling, one must wear garments that never reveal if you are human or beast.

218 MY:
A new continent is discovered far to the west, thought to be rich in highly valuable materials. The Coalition and Lumenöffnen along with Maxtopia and Blackacre host a summit with the intention of organizing its division. The Coalition gets the northern coast, Lumenöffnen the northeastern, Maxtopia the east, and Blackacre the southeast. It is agreed that they will attempt to avoid conflict by clearly delineating their territory.

Meanwhile, an ancestor of the merchant who discovered the shipwreck by the name of Charles Tod, an inventor, discovers a way of smelting iron such that it becomes much stronger and lighter. He has discovered steel.

Mid-205 MY: Barbados begins to abnormally grow hair on his body, and an existing but not noticeable tail bud. Barbados puts two and two together, realizing that the elixir was probably created by a nation to heal an epidemic, but costed them their human traits, turning them into leopard-like psuedo-humans. Barbados slowly cuts off his connection with society.

Late 205 MY: Faelixeus' son, Dimitrius I, is born.
206 MY: The Second Maxtopian Civil War breaks the records of highest fatality rate of any Maxtopian war, at a staggering 60,000,000 and rising. Both Blackacrean and Schönwetter forces approach the capital, and the Battle for Imperius ensues. Maxtopia manages to drive off Schönwetter forces leaving with a path of burned, destroyed, and pillaged towns and cities left to die, but Emperor Faelixeus is killed a hero, protecting his son from enemy forces. Maxtopia raises a burnt, tattered, faded flag of the country. The country surrenders.

The Senate and the chief of Blackacre, Ixiuan, sign a peace treaty that recognizes Takaria, Ernrac, and Blackacre as their own countries but not sovereign states, in a UK-esque style. Maxtopia's Emperor still rules over them all, but not completely. The Maxtopian Reconstruction Period begins, getting into multiple trade routes in an attempt to get enough resources to rebuild the villages Schönwetter pillaged and the capital, along with half of The Maginot Line (again).

Mid-206 MY: Barbados' transformation nears completion.

211 MY: A fever plagye sweeps the continent. Barbados dies as one of the victims. In his will Barbados insisted that his body be cremationed and his robes never removed. However soon after the death his doctor, one of the very very few who knew, tells the truth to the empire. The upper class in Maxland is thrown in turmoil.

Meanwhile the far Northern city of Legane City is accidentally invaded by several groups of nomad hunter gatherers and tribal farmers. After a few comfysed initial skirmishes peace talks clear up the confusion. They say they are fleeing an ascending warlord who is cutting a bloody swathe through the frozen far north. The groups ask for permission to live within the empire, or at least be allowed passage through.

211 MY- the Nomads are refused passage through Maxland, and are told that they must sail down the western coast if they want to go around.
213 MY- Because of the failure of the upper class, many provinces of Maxland secede, forming 2 different nations named Westamon and Grunhilda. Westamon is located on the western coast, and Grunhilda is a small stretch of land next to The Great Mountains.

214 MY: The "Butcher of the North", who's name has been lost to history, finally crashes into Mæxanteum. Legane City is besieged by a vast horde of fur clothed warriors wielding bronze weapons. Modern estimates are that as many as 250'000 are in the siege alone. Meanwhile marauding bands of raiders break off from the main body to wreak havoc in the Northern region's countryside. These represent an additional 30'000 warriors. Meanwhile, a splinter group of 20'000 chases the tribal peoples that were trying to flee the Butcher in the first place... who are massacred.

Desperate, the Senate appoints Giorgi Suvanatarra as 'First Consul'. Interestingly, Giorgi Suvanatarra was born to a peasant family in Doddydom province. His first act is to call the Farchasanid Empire and Violeta to their defence, both of which answer the call. His second is to begin a massive effort to formally turn Maexanteum into a real republic.

Meanwhile, far to the East, the nation of Channi wins a string of victories against it's rivals. Their king openly begins to talk about creating a second Empire of Jenni.

Gunhilda is invaded by the Coalition, which now includes Blackacre, and is divided into three with a puppet government setup in each.

220 MY:
The new “robed leader” states that the man who was revealed as “Barbados” was not Barbados. The upper class fabricates a lie that Barbados had already passed and his replacement had quickly succumbed to the plague, they make light that this is his intention. That all leaders are to wear the mask so the nation will not Greave the loss of a leader should it happen. In fact, they claim Barbados died before enacting a law that would reveal if a leader should be revealed when they die or remain in anonymity with this leader quickly succumbing.
Barbados’ Doctor is put under house arrest until further notice, but they don’t want to kill him or have him “die of an accident” as the administration understood this would cause panic.
221 MY:
These efforts show minor success which outweigh the failure, as Maxtopia hasn’t blown up yet.

[Annihilators of Chan Island]

221 MY: Legane City falls to the horde after almost a decade of siege. The Butcher's rampage pivots South and towards Westamon. Pillaging occurs across the entire empire. First Consul Giorgi Suvanatarra meanwhile is busy fighting many political battles in Maxland. It seems a pro-Senate and a pro-Robed Leader faction has emerged across the capital's upper class. Things look set to descend into civil war.

222 MY:
A Maxtopian United Front is created between the two factions to unsure Civil War does not erupt during this time of immense crisis, both factions purposefully handicap themselves of leverage over the other and a war council is created between the Robed Leader, 4 prominent senators, and 4 members of the Barbados’ advisory.
The War Council is to begin efforts of an army mobilization and it calls upon lords and lesser senators to prepare to fight an invading force.

Early 223 MY:
The Coalition and Lumenöffnen offer peace with Maxtopia and the other nations in the region, declaring that the Butcher of the North must be stopped at all costs before he seized control of the entire continent and known world.

Late 223 - 230 MY: This is the second half of what will be known as The Great Northern War. As many as 400'000 may have died in this conflict, by far the most bloody in Maexanteum's history. In this time Westamon is destroyed and reintegrated into the Empire, Legane City is retaken and Giorgi Suvanatarra emerges as the champion of the people due to his peasant origins.

The combined might of the empire, the Coalition, Lumenöffnen, Violeta and the Farchasanid Empire eventually defeats the horde. The Butcher however escapes into the frozen wastes with tens of thousands of his troops.

Sadly, the sheer loss of life and farmland by the war means that food shortages will be a thing for about a decade.

131 MY:
With the war over debates reigns on if the War Council should be dissolved or if it should continue in the face of famine, it’s agreed to be reshuffled and renamed for it’s new purpose, Agricultural Restoration. All but 2 members of the War Council are dismissed or leave willingly, the two that Remain are the Robed leader and the most influencial senator in Maxtopia. 3 new senators from farming regions become replacements and 4 new agricultural advisors join in the Council, now known as The Directory. Tensions remain high in it, but the United Front remains in affect.
132 MY:
With the Order of Coin having lost nearly all their influence due to the tsunami years prior, and being unable to recover, integration efforts begin for the vassal to become part of Maxtopia directly.

230 MY- The famine is hitting the smaller nations hard. The Ernraci have had to eat rats to survive, and farm moss from the caves underneath their island. It's even worse for some of the smaller villages; they have all starved.

230-242 MY:
With the famine in effect, the government under Illimus Nachtbär of Schönwetter declares a national emergency and seizes all food that the peasants have, declaring they will evenly distribute the food among the people. Unfortunately, the corruption simply causes the famine to be worse and well over a hundred thousand die by the end of the decade. Illimus is assassinated by his cousin, Klaus von Strücker, son of Johann von Strücker, and he claims leadership in a coup d’etat. The Schönwetter Kingdom becomes the Pferdreich. Effectively, Pferdreich is a puppet nation of the Vögel Empire, and they are both under martial law. Adopting an isolationist policy in both causes the famine to be extended an additional two years. In the end, about 250 thousand are dead, making this the worst famine in the history of the northern tribes.

243-253 MY:
The government is destroyed in a rebellion led by Maximilian the Just, who crowns himself Emperor. Under his guidance, an agricultural revolution takes place, ending the famine once and for all.
In order to achieve this, however, the lands of the ruling nobles were seized and converted into farmland, and a portion of their wealth was taken to pay sages to research new farming methods, which makes the nobles very angry indeed. They use what little wealth they have to hire a mercenary army in order to depose Maximilian and regain power, and after a few early victories by the mercenaries, the war seems to be in a stalemate between the Imperial Army and the mercenary forces. The war rages on still, so who will prove victorious?
