Must be Palpatine's boys.

Thinking its probably Kylos soldiers. Dont think Palps would have a random collection of soldiers chilling out on Endor for like 30ish years.

Well... maybe.

Don't see why they'd be called Sith Troopers otherwise. Kylo isn't a Sith.

But then again, who knows? Maybe he's paying homage to his grandfather.

I like the slight differences in the armour, but it is too similar to the normal troopers. It makes me nostalgic for SWTOR's sith troopers

I'd be soo happy if they incorporated some of the KOTOR sith designs into a movie, it would be such a break from the "Storm troopers but slightly different armour" trope

Think one of them turned up in Resistance.
Also think Cardinal from the Phasma novel was red armored.

That's an affirmative. Though it was made clear that his red armor was unique to him.

Guess some FO costume designer thought it looked really fly.

Maybe. But I doubt any costume designers bothered to read the Phasma novel tbh.

I'm assuming they're going to take the role of Kuva Shock/Elite Troopers in Episode 9.

I bet you the ARC Troopers could still kick their ass though.

Do we know what roles Sith troopers have? What makes them different from regular troopers?

I don't think their role has been given yet, but if I were to hazard a guess, I'd say maybe something to do with The Knights of Ren, or maybe Kylo's guard.

The article does say

Fans attending the mega pop-culture event (July 18-21) will be treated to a new exhibit of trooper armor from across the Star Wars saga, including a first look at the next evolution in Imperial/First Order soldiers: the “Sith trooper” from the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It’s a modern and more menacing look befitting its namesake.

Could they be the next generation of regular troops? Because they look like some spec-op unit. On the other hand, the First Order is basically a very radical, very militarized version of the Galactic Empire so maybe having their regular soldiers wear eye-burning red armor suits is more fitting to their ideology than classic white.

It looks meh. They could have at least incorporated a cool new helmet.

I heart Mauler, Sargon and E;R. The more sympathetic to fascism Star Wars films are the better. Fascism is very much in the spirit of Star Wars.

I am so confused on what your trying to say right now.

If they are Sith troopers, I’m hoping there’s a reason for it besides an upgrade. Kylo really makes a point of wanting to tear down past traditions at the end of VIII, so it’d be rather schizophrenic if he suddenly went “Look at my new guys! I’ll call them Sith troopers.”

Where the hell do you get "sympathetic to fascism" from a film series that has consistently treated the fascists as cartoonishly evil villains?

In fairness, for all the bluster of “letting the past die”, of Kylo and Rey, Kylo is really the one who can’t let go of the past.

I think he does want to, even if he’s a little unhinged.

So naming things Sith this and Sith that shouldn’t be his thing.

Fair point. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
