Do you think that Anakin, while he was falling under the thrall of Palpatine, could've been successfully mind-tricked?
I feel like this has come up before but I don't remember what the answers were if it has come up before.

That would ruin vader.
The whole point is that he turned evil because of his own free will.
If he didn't have a choice, he couldn't be evil, because being evil requires the ability to choose.
It would also make his redemption arc meaningless. If he didn't have a choice, what is he being redeemed for?
Being a puppet?

Just talking about theoretical possibilities, not what the story should have been.

Well technically, Sheev did mind trick every single Jedi while he was Chancellor before Mace Windu engaged him. He was very good at hiding himself with his force powers. Even from Plageous in Legends.

But I still think Anakin converted to the Sith out of bis own free will. Just remember, during attack of the clones when Anakain came back to the Lars homestead and talked with Padme, confessing he killed the tribe that killed his mother, he wanted to become the most powerful jedi ever and learn to stop people from dying. So right there, he was starting to think like a Sith, and it is a part of his progression into the dark side.

When Anakin pledged himself to Palpatine, it was out of desperation to save Padme from death despite the vision being conditional.

Well, we would first have to ask ourselves if Anakin is strong-willed and if he is how strong-willed.

Then we need to ask ourselves if force-sensitives have a resistance/imunity to being mind-tricked.

I know it was of his own free will, I was just wondering that since Palpatine was playing Anakin well-enough, that Palpatine could have mind-tricked Anakin if he wanted to. One Force-user fully aware of mind tricks falling susceptible to another's because of the bullshit they were successfully feeding them. However, if Anakin knows how to detect a mind trick, maybe Palpatine would have fully revealed his plans too soon because of one little assumption and a mistake, where Anakin detects the mind trick, resists it, and Palpatine is then on the Jedi's dinner plate.

Perhaps, but we gotta dive deeper. Palpatine was a very deceptive man. He easily manipulated those whom he thought were quite weak-minded and those whom he thought were inferior to him. Anakin is a great example. He was very trusting of Palpatine ever since he was a little kid.

One of the new Canon Comics depicts an interaction between Palpatine and Anakin when the latter was only 12 and Palpatine took him to the lower parts of Coruscant to plant the first seeds of doubt in Anakin's mind.

Thus over the years, from a young age, Anakin became quite trusting of Palpatine and Palpatine used this to his advantage to sway his planned apprentice to the dark side.

Anakin even revealed many secrets of himself that he didn't even reveal to his mentor, Obi-Wan. Such as his marriage, and killing the sand people.

Obviously we all know this, but my point is, you don't need to use force powers to manipulate someone. Just a very deceptive mind and impressive speech is enough to manipulate an unsuspecting person

I guess Sheev had more tricks up his sleeve than simple Force tricks. I guess relying on the Force that much would only get you so far, too. Alright then.

Been enjoying them myself recently actually. Just caught up on the older series, and the first volume of the new one. Plan on continuing with that and Doctor Aphra when I have the disposable income.
