I am. I really like everything I have seen so far and I'm on the hype train. It comes out a day before my birthday so I will probably get it then.

I would encourage you to be a bit more optimistic about this. Far from me to defend EA practices but things like Fallen Order have shown they can let their developers make a great game and from everything shown so far Squadrons looks pretty good.

So I like TOR and all but the whole Zakuul/Eternal Empire stuff kinda runs lackluster when compared to the other stuff. It seems like a mix of great writing and terrible writing. The Ossus/Onslaught stuff isn't that great either, if only because it still deals with the Eternal Alliance stuff a bit.

Honestly I just wanted to destroy the throne and move on. Instead I got bogged down in this weird "Third Faction" stuff which then ended abruptly, without warning, and rather hamfistedly. Kinda like how the Eternal Empire was introduced.

Also sucks how unlike the class stories these plot lines roughly all run the same even for different factions (except Ossus/Onslaught) and how it's so blatantly obvious that the Eternal Empire plot was designed with Force users in mind primarily.

Class stories were the best part of TOR, tbh.

Having played through it with my Inquisitor, I was always curious how the story would play out with my Bounty Hunter, but I never got around to trying it. IIRC there were several pivotal scenes involving your use of the force

Capital ships in the EU are pretty broken tbh. Single turbo-laser shots possess 200 gigatons.

Yeah. A fleet of 4 Imperial II Star Destroyers was described as enough firepower to reduce a planet to molten slag. Which really makes you wonder why the Death Star was ever thought to be important or useful in the EU.

If I recall, I think the Sith Emperor’s consciousness sometimes lets your characters draw on his power, allowing all eight classes to use the force when the plot calls for it.

Pretty much. Valkorion tries to tempt you to use his power by trying to manipulate you into thinking you can't win certain scenarios. You can accept for dark side points or reject for light side points. The outcomes are largely the same, though, with slight differentiation in dialogue and cutscenes and no real effect for gameplay.

In other news, doing my absolute best to memorize the class popularity in TOR I have come up with the following:

  • Sith Inquisitor
  • Sith Warrior
  • Jedi Guardian
  • Jedi Consular
  • Bounty Hunter
  • Imperial Agent*
  • Smuggler*
  • Trooper*

Maybe this is all anecdotal but that seems be the trend. I, personally, started with Trooper then did Smuggler and am now doing Jedi Consular. I plan to do Jedi Guardian before switching over to the Imperial classes.

*Note: I'm not confident on the last three rankings as they all seem fairly even in commonality. They may all be tied for the 6th-8th place.

Honestly I'm not surpsrised by how many sith there are in the poll. I mean I picked sith also but I'm not going to galavant across the galaxy imposing sith rule. I would start my own sith school and just conqaure a few systems in the outer rim. That way nobody cares and probably wouldn't even find out about it lol. :ugeek:

I would encourage you to be a bit more optimistic about this. Far from me to defend EA practices but things like Fallen Order have shown they can let their developers make a great game and from everything shown so far Squadrons looks pretty good.

Fallen Order had no extra room for EA 'Games as Service', but Squadrons has it written all over. They claim it will not have 'Games as a Service' implementation at launch, but we all saw how that went down with SWBF2. They're not above lying to try and build hype for a half-baked game with zero consideration for their player base. If anything, it's naïve to assume they don't have some underlying plan to help them obtain more money off of it in the future, to include DLC's which could have been in the original game, skins and 'premium' content which can be bought three to six months after 'since the game is so popular, we wanted to encourage those playing with some special rewards'.

At this point, best case scenario in my mind is they use it as a sacrificial lamb to try and bring back players before they release something like SWBF3 which would be a toned down version of it's predecessor with supposed 'at release free bonus content' which slowly morphs into a 'game as service' when they're certain everyone's taken the bait.

I just realized Zakuul is basically the fully-automated luxury gay space communism meme. Valkorion literally created a society where everybody was wealthy and lived in luxury, where droids did all the hard work, where class was basically nonexistent. He was a fucking pinko.

The armor, the shields, the Force pikes, etc. were all pretty cool. So were the various color shades the armor came in and some of their lines were pretty great, too.

I want one to show up in a movie soo bad. I thought Rey was gona have one in the sequels given she lugs around that staff everywhere in TFA and TLJ, and the top of it even looks like a lightsaber.

I think in one of the cinematics it shows they can collapse from pike form to regular lightsaber, but I might be misremembering.
