Apparently. Did you know that motion capture stunt work doesn’t count as stunt work now, just because it’s for an animated show? That’s what I’ve heard.

They are physically doing the fight/stunts. Then the animators match up the movements of the animated character to the physical fight/stunts. Just like if it was a CGI character in a live action movie that had a motion capture actor on the set.

.... You know what motion capture is right? They are still physically doing the fight. They do all the movements and such and then animators animate around it to match up with it. By your own logic, it is stuntwork. Your whole "its not real stuntwork" is just petty at this point.

By this logic any fight in the series with any sort of SFX embellishment isn't real stuntwork even if it was done by real people first.

This is a stunt.

Maul and Ashoka were two people in onsies doing mo-cap.

See the difference? Probably not, cause I forget I'm the only one willing to criticize Clone Wars in here.

But they were doing the stunts. It doesn’t matter what they were wearing or whether it was mo-cap or not. They did the stunts. Why do you adamantly refuse to understand this basic concept?

Stunt comes in many different forms. A sword fight is a stunt. The phantom menace duel was a stunt. The cloud city duel was a stunt. This is a stunt. It is two people physically preforming a duel. It is a stunt. If you don’t like the duel that is one thing, but trying to claim the motion caption work is not a real stunt is petty as fuck.

I'm pretty sure everyone in this thread who likes the Clone Wars has been willing to criticize it, if only the earlier seasons. You know, the parts you watched, and base most of your criticisms on.

Load of balls, plenty of criticism towards clone wars on here from both people who enjoy it and dont enjoy it. You are just so obsessed with being the only one right you ignore the truth right in front of you and dismiss anything that could prove you wrong.

And that is why you fail.

Mocap is stuntwork, deal with it.

I've literally written mini-essays about why what Filoni/Lucas did to Grievous in TCW was a tragedy and have discussed it on here often:

It's more legitimate criticism than saying: "stunts aren't stunts unless I PERSONALLY think they're stunts."

Now that is some legitimate criticism. Do you have a link to this essay? I’m curious to see how much of it I agree with.

Better write off all the other stuntwork in the series given that there was SFX work involved then.

Or to put it another way: what makes these stunts but not the Ahsoka / Maul fight?

Oh, it should be in the spoiler image I provided above. That's a post I made on another site.

If you mean WHY I think it's worse that they changed his backstory in the way they did, it's simply because he's actually a complex character who's motivation makes sense while, in TCW, he's made purposefully shallow and uninteresting. I have no context for why the Jedi being "superior fighters" would be so important to Grievous that he replaces his entire body with droid parts when he explicitly hates droid and I'm sad that what I find to be a much better backstory was erased for that.

One where we sort of agree. I don't think it outright RUINED him but it was a step down from previous portrayals.

The original backstory for Grievous was really damn good, i quite liked it. Grievous is one of the biggest disappointments for me when it comes to the Prequels.

As much as I love TCW, Grevious was really fucked over. His previous backstory of being a warlord fighting for his people only to get fucked up over by the Republic and Jedi made him such a good character and emphasized how corrupt the Republic was and how the Jedi has also been corrupted by that. Not to mention his 2003 version was fucking terrifying(one of the few things I like more in 2003 series than 2008 one.)
