Why are so many people (IRL) convinced that Dooku is a violent humanocentrist? It quite literally goes against everything his character is. He's diplomatic, a man of honor and reason, a former Jedi, and he's effectively the leader of the Separatists, a group whose leaders are almost entirely made up of sentient non-humans. Obviously, Dooku was far from perfect, but he genuinely believed that he was doing the right thing by leaving the Jedi Order, and leading a movement to help countless systems escape Republic control. So why are so many writers and fans convinced that he's a violent humanocentrist who wanted to create what was essentially the Imperium of Man?

It's an established belief here (for the most part) that if the Separatists hadn't been made so cartoonishly evil for the purposes of the movies, there would actually be a pretty solid case to be made that they were justified in their goals, and maybe even the outright good guys.

And in-universe being pushed to be cartoonishly evil for the sake of Palpy's propaganda machine.

Okay I decided to rewatch Clone Wars and the first episode has one of my favorite Star Wars moments of all time. It is when Yoda meets Ventress and instead of fighting her he just fucking takes her Lightsabers from her, taunts her and then hands them back. Just comedy fucking gold.

This is why everyone likes Yoda.
Republic Commando is a lot of fun. Scorch is my favorite character.

Do you think the Jedi Temple had a porn filter?

I mean, you can argue it doesn’t count as attachment.

I mean technically sexual relationships were not forbidden and I can't find anything saying it does so no? I wonder if any Jedi had a friends with benefits sort of thing going on with each other

I've never thought about that before, but it makes sense. Gotta relieve the pressure somehow, right?

I figured sexual relationships would've been forbidden as those types of relationships would eventually form some sort of attachment. And I also figured that since the Jedi are all about selflessness, they would try and avoid any selfish temptations.

Basically what I'm getting at is that the Jedi are pretty much Space Catholics that worship and use the Force

Not really. He just sat around and then got killed by Rey. And his return and the whole final order idea was just absurd in all ways. That fleet nonsense was just to much and killed any real tension I felt. A villian returning can be done well (Maul is a good example of such) but Palpatine return was just bad. It really did nothing to make the story better and honestly I would say his and the finals order presence detracted from the movie

Really? I'd thought the fleet was cool. I'm down for exterminatus type ships.

The twist of him being Reys grand pappy is cool and really hearing the "The Dark side of the force leads to abilities some would find unnatural" delivery was just great.

Maybe it would have been if it was not the fourth goddamm time we saw planet destroying weapons and there were not 10,000 of them. Planet destroying weapons have been overdone in Star Wars and this fucking fleet is just laughable. It is like a child claiming they have a "super duper invincible force field." It is just silly. Not to mention the threat of the fleet is so high it makes it hard to feel actually threatened since we know nothing that bad could actually happen.

And maybe Rey being Palpatine being his granddaughter could have been a good twist, if it had been actually developed and executed well. It pretty much came out of no where and aside from the implication Rey might fall to the Dark side really did not go anywhere. And the unnatural line was simple fan service, nice but utterly meaningless.

I honestly don't get this criticism. Glibly flims use the nuke trope over and over again and don't get hate for it. 40k exterminatus happens just about everytime an inquisitor gets bored/has a bad day/ just feels like destroying a planet. Why should Star wars not get to have the destroy a planet type fun glibly and 40k do?

The way the line was presented, the shots the lighting man the way that line was presented was down right awesome. Eh it showed what Ray fears. Thats good for fleshing out. Also Darth Raydar puns are now a thing.

Ok, so here's the 411;
I finally finished watching the Clone Wars (late to the party, I know). Absolutely phenomenal ending, left me in tears. But here's the kicker; instead of re-watching the Clone Wars to fill the clone-shaped hole in my heart, I'm actually considering watching Rebels.

I'll be honest, my first impression with Rebels wasn't that great; in the first episode I saw, the main cast bombed a parade (on Coruscant? Details are fuzzy) in an area densely populated with civilians and other unarmed noncombatants. Aside from the obvious moral qualms, I wasn't a big fan of most of the main cast aside from Hera and the Jedi guy (Kanan? Sorry I'd that's wrong).

But lately I've been hearing lots of people talking about how much they love the show, especially in the later seasons. I'm hesitant to jump into something, especially after familiarizing myself with many of its criticisms before experiencing it first hand. Figured if I wanted a more general, non-biased opinion, this was the place to go.

So, what are your guys's thoughts on Rebels? Is it actually decent, or is it just not worth the watch? For those who liked it, what did you enjoy? For those who didn't, what parts made it less than optimal? I don't care about potential spoilers, I'm just looking for a show to pass the time.

Rebels is complete crap. The cast sucks, the fights suck, they bitch Maul, the lightsbaers look like toothpicks...don't waste your time.

Reusing the same old trope is bad writing. The fleet was both a very silly concept in how over the top it was and just JJ doing death star 4 but even bigger this time. The fleet is just bad writing. Simple pointless over the top bullshit that if anything just made me unable to take the movie seriously.

And yes the way in which Palpatine was introduced was kinda cool, but in a very shallow way. And Rey's fear was neither well developed and did not go anywhere so that whole plot point was fucking weak.

Rebels is a flawed show. The first season in particular was pretty damm weak. But once you get into the second season it does begin to improve and I think it ended up as a decent enough show and delivered some pretty strong moments(Mauls death and Ashoka vs Vader being the highlights for me). If your curious about it I would recommend you give it at least one watch.

The majority of the 1st season is as bad as the average episode of S1-S4 clone wars (which is, admittedly, pretty shitty). The majority of the 2nd season is good, but nothing special. It gets better than virtually 90% of the Clone Wars (except for that small number of arcs in TCW which are superior to anything that has ever come out of a screen-based medium in the whole Star Wars franchise) by the final 2-3 episodes of Season 2. The Art style is pretty shitty though. That doesn't get any better and if you can't tolerate it in Season 1 you won't tolerate it in season 4. With that in mind, if you're a fan of Found Family, braving the shittiness of the 1st season might be worth it.
