Also I love how those two x-wing pilots who have likely spent years fighting uphill battles against the Empire are now just acting like traffic cops and that Mando basically got pulled over for a traffic violation.

To be fair he's also a very wanted criminal for breaking into that Republic prison ship, which I completely forgot about until this episode because I mentally put it away as a filler episode.

Also, if Mando is looking for Jedi surely he can just ask literally anyone living in the New Republic. I don't know how he missed that it's "rumored" a Jedi saved the galaxy.

I think they used the X-wings’ blaster cannons to kill the big beastie, and were just using their rifles to clean up the rest. Their rifles sounded different from the blasts that whacked mommy longlegs.

Current RP: A Rock Out of Place (involved tribes: Night Wolf, Deep Kraken, Starwalker)

Yeah but the whole interaction started because of what is basically the space version of a broken tail light which I think is hilarous.

And yeah I don´t get why Mando thinks of the Jedi as some super ancient order. Like bro you were alive during the clone wars how have you never heard of them? I get you were young but how the fuck did you never hear about the order of space wizards who were the galactic peacekeepers and whom a former member led the siege of Mandalore? How did everyone basically just forget about the Jedi?

It seems like a deliberate throwback to ANH where dialogue kinda implied Jedi were very rare and mysterious, to the point where that Imperial Officer didn’t believe the Force was real at all.

Doesn’t really fit with the rest of Star Wars canon though.

I guess the Empire could organise some Tiananmen Square levels of disinformation and censorship and do everything they can to wipe out knowledge of the Jedi but i mean its a galaxy full of trillions of people and they were actively fighting a war a few decades ago.

But like this also ignores the fact that a literal Jedi saved the galaxy from the Empire. Mando knows the Empire fell but he doesn't know that's because an "ancient wizard" fired the winning blow and is currently helping lead a transition government?

Like how does he know the Death Star (and Death Star 2) blew up but now know anything more? Does he literally not watch the news?

I kinda like it myself. Shows how much control over the institutions of the Empire that Sidious has.

I mean that might work if not for the fact that by the time of the show the Jedi had only been gone for a little under 30 years or so and thus there would have been countless people who were alive during the Clone Wars and would have remembered the Jedi. Sure he could have censored public information, but people would still remember them and those who grew up during the Empire would have at least heard stories from their parents. It just seems really dumb that knowledge about a group as influential as the Jedi would have left the public's conscience even though they would be in living memory for many.

Probably a ban on talking about the Jedi tbh. Makes it so that there's a mix of those viewing the Jedi as traitors and those viewing them as myths.

The Jedi never had large numbers or many bases of operation. It's entirely likely that 90% of the galaxy's inhabitants had never even seen a Jedi, let alone met one. Force-users are pretty rare in general. It doesn't seem that way from media, yeah, because y'know, plot, but Jedi would've been pretty rare. Hence why having them all as generals in the Grand Army of the Republic made so much: they're all right where Palpatine wanted them. Within view so he could watch them and bump them off when the time was right. Anyone who wasn't leading armies was most likely at the Temple n Coruscant. Stragglers could easily be hunted down afterward.

So really, Jedi were probably more of a rumor than anything else to most people. Sure you could jump up on the Holonet and find out all this stuff about these police-warrior-monks, but odds are you'd never meet one unless you were fighting in the Clone Wars. Even then there's no guarantee. So Palpatine comes to power, kills most of the Jedi, erases all information of their existence, and so most people--who've never met or even seen a Jedi--probably would've gradually forgotten they ever existed in the first place.

Mando was probably too young to remember them save for the stories of ancient Mandalorians fighting Jedi. It's highly unlikely he ever met one or saw one, even when they came Mandalore. And that's probably true for most folks in the galaxy. Jedi didn't exactly hang around bars and clubs and stuff their faces in front of cameras all the time. They were rather reclusive, small in number, and the most the average joe would've known about a Jedi is that they can use the Force, wield lightsabers, and wear robes allowing them to be easily identified.

The Sith ravaged the galaxy several times yet by the time of the Clone Wars nobody knew what the fuck a Sith was. Like, they nearly destroyed the Republic on several occasions. Nothing. Guy with a lightsaber, robes, and Force powers? Must be a Jedi. Granted the Sith Empire stopped being a thing 1000 years before the Clone Wars, but still. They'd more than left their mark on the galaxy enough to be remembered.
