Well to be fair it's kind of hard to believe in the existence of a tooth billed duck-beaver-thing that lays eggs, sweats milk and has poison claws. It's one of those things where reality is stranger than any fiction.

Aaand TCW is back to being really good. Who knows how long it'll keep it up for?

The Deserter was really sweet, if a tad ham-fisted with its themes. And, most importantly, adorable Twi'lek kids adopted by a clone!

The Grievous-Kenobi sections were still naff, though, and completely disrupted the genuinely tense climactic scenes on the farm. It's a shame episode III was a thing. If it weren't for that, they could have killed off this dud character already.

Mostly silent, scary, deadly, and nearly impossible to kill. Unless you're a pissed off Mace Windu or Obi-Wan Kenobi of course.

Wave goodbye to him now, you'll never, ever see him again unless Filoni ramps him up or if Disney has bigger financial losses.

I might be a contrarian but I don't get the hype about the original Grievous. He's way too OP and it stretches credibility. It's already ridiculous enough that there's a normie cyborg alien who happens to have four arms and can fight and kill a single Jedi with their own weapon, let alone four of them at once.

Also Episode III should've left in the deleted scene where he kills Shaak Ti, because the part about him being a Jedi killer wasn't explained very well in the movie. He just has random lightsabers from nowhere and it doesn't make sense why he uses them, since he seems to really suck at it. The Clone Wars at least shows him as being more competent than the movie does even if he is still a bit of a joke compared to the original Clone Wars.

Star Wars fans are notorious for hyping up characters that look cool but don't do anything. IG-88 literally is in one scene where he stands there and says nothing.

Having said that, the part in the game Shadows of the Empire where you fight him on Ord Mantell is cool. But him taking over the Death Star was a silly idea and I'm glad the canon reboot got rid of it.
We are free to believe that this is the century of authority, a century tending to the right, a Fascist century. If the XIXth century was the century of the individual (liberalism implies individualism) we are free to believe that this is the "collective" century, and therefore the century of the State.

Of course he was OP. That's why he was so cool.

He was believably OP though. He wasn’t an anime Isekai protagonist à la Kirito. There’s still tension.

Is it even meaningful to talk about an antagonist being OP? OP-ness is only a problem when you've got a heroic character who's so powerful they can resolve the conflict without needing to undergo any sort of change. An OP villain is...just a villain your heroes are going to have to work really hard to beat.

I guess if they were so powerful there was no sense in anyone even trying to beat them, so your story just disappears into a vortex of grimdarkness.
