Agreed. I think a slower pace can only be a boon in the long run.
Also excited to see Rian's films, so I'm happy that's where the attention will be.

Well, the article isn't clear on that:
It's also not known whether the next trilogy of Star Wars films to hit the screen will be the one being developed by The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson or the one that has been assigned to Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss — or something yet to be announced.

Johnson's trilogy was the first to be announced, so I would guess it's that, but we can't be sure.

Huh. I’ve seen elsewhere that the two projects mentioned there were to be the focus going forward. I’ll have to double check.

Hmm, you're right. From the original Collider article:
In addition to Episode IX, Lucasfilm has officially announced development on a new Star Wars trilogy focused on new characters from The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson, as well as a new series of films written by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. These projects continue to be in development and are not part of the paused spinoffs we’re hearing about. But Lucasfilm’s main focus at the moment is planning the next trilogy after the Abrams-directed Star Wars 9, which is expected to conclude the story of Rey (Daisy Ridley) that began with The Force Awakens.

It sounds like the trilogy referred to is separate from both Johnson's and D&D's. On the other hand, if they're cancelling spin-offs it's entirely possible those trilogies will never get beyond the development stage either.

Actually, that's a good spot. I hadn't seen the bit about them focussing on a new trilogy that isn't Rian's. That's very interesting.

I’ve heard that they’re doubling down on sequel era stuff. It’s the OT era world building films that they’re holding off on.

They still plan on going ahead with the two planned trilogies.

Well, it's academic, since the original story was untrue.

I don’t know what that means for the Kenobi and Boba Fett movies though. Your link says unannounced SW films are still in development, but those movies had potential directors attached and everything.

They might be on hold.

F&NI is not the appropriate place to discuss Star Wars, and considering there already is a Star Wars thread, I've merged several posts accordingly.
