I can see myself playing more of it, to be honest. Maybe I've just become desensitized to obtuse piles of complicated garbage.

Honestly my experience with it is as follows:
1. Booted up the game
2. Started a game as the Soviet Union
3. Hours later, shut the game down to look for video tutorials on how to arrange my army
4. Hours later again woke up, realized what I was doing, shut youtube down in rage and newer touched the bloody thing again

NO regrets.
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

Maybe try Germany? I imagine the SU is much more convoluted for someone new to the game.

You seem to have missed the important point.

No game should require several hours of setup in between starting and hitting the unpause button. And absolutely no game should require hours of tutorials not even provided with the game to understand that setup. Under any conditions. Ever.

I don't expect my games to be simple or easy. I don't expect to understand them completely in my first try. But I demand that I be able to boot the game up and immediately start playing and having fun so that I can learn on the go through said playing all the while having fun. Loosing is fun. Homework is not.

To me HOI3 is like HOI2 but with mountains of pointless administrative work piled on top for no reason.

More power to them. Personally I hated it and thus quit the game forever in revulsion. If someone else can find fun in it I'll be happy for him.

Because its fun to watch the joy of his life turn to ashes before him and leave him to suffer. Also i have a claim and im trying to murder as many as i can to see if it eventually would fall to me, though i dont think it will and its not letting me press a war for it.

Also more details, i killed his two sons, one of his nephews, one of his nieces, was responsible for killing the husband of his sister, a child cousin, and like 4 distant relatives and members of court.

And three separate lords other than him have tried to murder me, should i stop or double down till i bite the dust?

And in related news. The year was about 880, give or take, when my slightly demented 70 year old king of Finland finally conquered enough of the east to found an Empire. Just in time too, I figured. For he was surely to die at his age. With his oldest predecessors barely making it into the 50's it was frankly a miracle he'd gotten to be this old at all! Turns out he had other ideas.

One event chain later and I am now the proud owner of 6 kingdoms, 1 blob of an empire stretching from Eastern England to the west to Perm (including those) in the east and one 110 year old immortal Emperor of Finland. This is going to be interesting.

PS. The mystic I rolled was a reasonably good genned young woman so my plan now is to pump out as many babies as I can between the two immortals and make them kings of every de jure kingdom on the map. Let's see if I can chip away on the blob that is Catholic Byzantium run by a Bulgar.

Nonsense! Clearly only an opaque system so byzantine the actual Byzantines don't use it is the only proper way to settle your inheritance. And hey, you even get a larger demesne. For, some reason.

It's actually quite useful in the right situation.

For example when you are an emperor juggling king level vassals and want to make sure they stay in your dynasty but want to prevent inter-king marriages from consolidating more than one kingdom under one guy or girl so that they can't challenge you.

Just make sure your own succession is something else of course. :)

Is there a succession law where contenders must duel for the throne? Refusing to duel means turning down your claim- if only one heir accepts they inherit; if more then one does they must duel for the throne.

edit: I know there isn't in game but - mods please.
